Awesome sound for cymbals

By David Noe Lopez Martinez

Comments about Vater Ultra Staccato Timpani Mallets:

I bought this pair of mallets (T5) for my drums, I was looking for that fulfilling sound that the mallets gives and I got it with this, great sound even for playing in all the kit on the toms they sound amazing, I'm going to try a T7 because I thinks this ones are a little bit hard, but so fat so good.

Comments about Vater Ultra Staccato Timpani Mallets:

Okay, so Vater makes a GREAT drumstick...some of the best I've played for drumset. If you're looking to compliment your palette of sounds for drumset, then this is a great choice. Fat, heavy backbeat, thick tone, and durable. However, if you are looking for an ACTUAL tympani mallet, I would not say that this is your choice. This mallet only lends well to one grip stile (traditional) while almost unplayable with others. The wood is extremely heavy for a tymp mallet, yet great, again for set. The only circumstances that I can see these mallets in are multi-perc. setups, or very contemporary pieces. Overall not my favorite, but a good choice to add to your sound palette.

heavy mallets

Comments about Vater Ultra Staccato Timpani Mallets:

I personally prefer lighter timpani mallets and if you're like me, then these aren't for you. The shafts of these timpani mallets are thick and heavy - they feel almost like drum sticks with felt heads. I own the T4 Legato's and they sound decent but I don't like the feel. If you like heavy timpani mallets though, go for it.
