So I really liked fast sticks and preferably maple for light weight and great sound. I played with Dave Weckl's Signature Sticks for about a year and a half. At a festival I was talking to the drummer of a band and told him how I liked the speed and love to play fusion and jazz and etc. He told me about these babies and let me tell you what they are far and away my favorite. The feel and the speed I get out of these is amazing. I was worried about the 7A being a little to thin and fragile but that has not been a problem at all. BUY THIS STICK YOU WILL HAVE "A DRUM DREAM."

I accidentally bought a 12 pack of these along with a hickory 12 pack without realizing that they both weren't hickory. I play pretty hard and these just do not hold up. I've gone though 5 pair in about a week. I don't play excessively hard, but I do put force on my sticks. I can see the uses for lighter playing, but if you play hard don't waste your money on Sugar Maple sticks. And don't get me wrong, I love Vater, it's just the wood.

Comments about Vater Sugar Maple Drum Sticks:

Vater sticks are the best on the market to begin with, but they're also the only company who makes maple sticks that last. Maple sticks are definitely one of Vater's specialty. These maple sticks are a softer wood and about 25% lighter than hickory counterparts, but unlike other brands, the Vaters last about as long as hickory sticks, even when hitting rim shots. They dent, but they don't fray any faster than hickory sticks. The Blazer model feels amazing right off the bat. A nice and beefy stick without the weight. Lightning fast. I normally use hickory 5B's but use Blazers for practice or bar gigs where I have to be a little less loud, but don't want to sacrifice feel by playing with twigs. Additionally, these maple sticks sound fantastic on ride cymbals, and give you a real fat pop on your snare.

I love the flared bead... It used to be even more flared I believe and the stick may have been a little longer... I could be wrong about that, either way they function and feel great on lighter and faster material...

I love these sticks. However, If you play a lot of rim shots, the stick may tend to bruise more noticeably than a stick finished with lacquer. But, on balance, I love them and will certainly order more.

Comments about Vater Sugar Maple Drum Sticks:

Wow!! Wow!! AND WOW!! I use these sticks insted of 5B's cause i like the ball head and shoulder taper. These sugar maple stciks are a half ounce lighter per stick, I weighted them out. The hickory fusions weight at 2 Oz a stick 4 Oz a pair, Sugar Maple 1.5 Oz a stick 3 Oz a pair. Having said that, HECK YEAH!! You can feel the differance rigt away and man do I feel like "Flash" when I use these sticks. I only wish they had the Sugar Maple in the Power 5A's. Other then that these stick are lighter and faster, so if you want to be like "Flash" buy them!!

Comments about Vater Sugar Maple Drum Sticks:

The Vater Sugar Maple Drumsticks are great. They're what I've been looking for. They're light yet durable. These stick are just right. They have good rebound and pack a punch. The only other drumsticks that are this light were First Act drumsticks, but they break after playing a few songs. Thanks Vater. This is the stick I'll use from now on.
