  These are my favorite sticks in general. I have always been true to vater sticks, they seem to last the longest and always have a good feel. The vater xd-5a are awesome because they are longer and a littler widers than normal 5a's and they have a 5a tip. They almost have a 5-b feel but its a little lighter with a 5-a tip .

• these sticks will last

  I had been playing the VF metal N model with the red tips, however i found that i was getting fatigued and they didn't wear out they tended to split almost vertically every time. The XD-Rock soon became a staple in my rehearsal studio and on the road. Unfortunately they're tough to find in a pinch GC along with most drum shops dont stock them on their shelves. but i still recommend this stick because A you cant beat the price, the size, and durability if you must like I do, Buy a case at a time. Oh yeah and they're made right here in Massachusetts

  If you have been looking for your stick and can't find the right weight, and you like a 16.5 diameter, the Xtreme design has your model. If you thought the power 5a was too light and the 5b was too heavy, the xd-5a is your stick. I used the power 5a and thought it was too light, so i switched to a 5b and thought it was too heavy. The xd-5a hit the spot
