I bought these sticks, althought they are a little thicker than the normal stick they are very great, i would recommend these sticks to anyone. Theyre thicker, more durable, but have a very good feel to them.
I got these sticks in 5b free after buying a double bass pedal at my local music store. I usually use promark 5a hickory but i decided to give these a try. As soon as i picked them up i felt how light they actually were, they were about the same wieght as the old 5a's i was using. I started to play some beats with these and noticed i actually have alot more control using 5bs. The sticks are bigger so i can hold on to them better and they are alot more durable i havnt broken a pair yet. Overall these are some good sticks to try out and will last you a good time while playinging even at your hardest.
I ordered a 12-pack of these in a 5A nylon tip, and they are pretty nice - definitely good for the price. I had been playing Vic Firth 5B which I liked pretty well.. These in size fall between a 5A and 5B in Vic Firth though the same length, and I like that. It's a little bit lighter and little less thick than the Vic 5Bs and that works well for me for playing gigs because they don't wear me down as fast over four hours, but they're still substantial enough to get good tone and volume. The quality is generally good, but as others have said, in a 12 pack, you'll get a pair or two that aren't great. One pair of mine had some bad wood grain and another is warped a little. The rest of them seemed to be very close to perfect condition. I'll agree with what others here are saying, they hold up well though I don't break sticks often due to my playing technique - I'm not a 'basher.' My friend is though and he's the one that told me about these, and said they hold up better for him than anything he's used. These will be my gigging sticks going forward, and I'll keep a few pairs of Vic Firth around for playing at home or what-not.
