I have had this throne for over a year, and it has held up AMAZINGLY! I have had large people on it, I play nearly every day, and it hold up great. The only problem is the thumb screw that keeps the seat from rotating lossens by itself, but some of you might like to have a little rotation. Really great for the price, especially learning drummers, and hobbyist. For active drummers on the road: try a more expensive, and more padded Pork Pie.

If you are a beginner and not sure drumming is for you, this is a great first throne to go with. It's cheap and fairly comfortable. However, if you decide drumming is for you, an upgrade will be in order. If you are an experienced drummer this is NOT the throne for you. While the legs are very sturdy, the seat is not. It swivels, which it's not supposed to do, way too much, and I could probably break it (at 150 lbs) without much effort.

Great seat for the price!

By Animal

from Ohio

Comments about Universal Percussion UP197 Round Double-Braced Drum Throne:

This seat is a great addition to those players that are a hobbyist, occasional player, or just having a practice session. The other night I played drums for about 3 hours and I have to say that I still felt supported, and comfortable, in my playing. I felt that I could have kept going. I highly recommend this throne for those that are not using their kit for professional use or for those looking to supplement your Rock Band/Guitar Hero playing sessions.

Great Seat for a Great Price

By Scott Riggi

Comments about Universal Percussion UP197 Round Double-Braced Drum Throne:

What a bargain, I researched to find a comfortable throne in seating and the wallet. Great price. It will replace my 1960's Ludwig. Thanks again for your products.

Happy new throne

By Jason

from Eugene, Oregon

Comments about Universal Percussion UP197 Round Double-Braced Drum Throne:

This throne is very strong for the price. I am not that small of a dude so it can handle some weight. I was very happy with the shipping too. I would recommend this throne for anyone on a budget. If you play hard or are just a beginner it is great for anyone.

Very sturdy. Comfortable enough for marathon sessions and holds my 260 lbs with little to no effort, especially when I start playing hard in solos.

Better hardware than most thrones

By Kevin

from Ellicott City, MD

Comments about Universal Percussion UP197 Round Double-Braced Drum Throne:

This seat has a ingenious way to lock at a desired height. It has a separate bar that lets you choose your height to adjust. The seat isn't the best or the most comfortable but amazing for its cheap prize.

Decent Seat, Rock Bottom price

By Andy

from Chicago, IL

Comments about Universal Percussion UP197 Round Double-Braced Drum Throne:

I bought this for the kids to use with their Rock Band game and while it's a good size for an adult, it's not small enough for Kindergarteners. He makes due with it though! For a beginning drummer of any age it's a sturdy enough seat at a great price.

Nice Thrown

By Tom

from Chandler, AZ

Comments about Universal Percussion UP197 Round Double-Braced Drum Throne:

It looks great, it's light and goes together easily. I was impressed with the chrome base and it looks plenty sturdy. Only one short coming the padded seat could be bigger or my butt could be smaller. I use it to play my guitar and I recommend it.

Don't Bother

By TAWB

from Takoma Park, MD

Comments about Universal Percussion UP197 Round Double-Braced Drum Throne:

This is great for beginners I guess, But you are much better off spending an extra $5-20 on a far superior throne. I'm a tall drummer; 6'7", so I have the throne up high and the screw always comes slightly loose and the seat slides down making it awkward to play. Also there are only about 5 Hight settings, not versatile at all. The seat is comfortable enough to play for extended time, but again you could spend another $5 for a throne with a better seat. Don't bother with this unless your going to use it to put next to a practice pad. or give it to a guitarist to sit on. Don't be cheap, spend another $5.

Good throne for not-too-crazy drumming.

By Tom

from Bloomingdale, IL

Comments about Universal Percussion UP197 Round Double-Braced Drum Throne:

The legs/stand are solid and sturdy, along with the height adjustable post. The only questionable item is the thumb screw used to attach the seat. It just screws into/against the post and holds in place via friction. Might be a better design if it screwed into a hole in the post.

Perfect Inexpensive Throne...

By RedArt

from Sylvania, OH

Comments about Universal Percussion UP197 Round Double-Braced Drum Throne:

Great for Guitar Hero WT. The kids now think they are real drummers. Very sturdy, decently comfortable and better than a folding chair.

Sit on this

By Pappy T

from Portland, OR

Comments about Universal Percussion UP197 Round Double-Braced Drum Throne:

Works great. A little wobbly, but is plenty strong enough for a 225 pounder. Makes a great benchrest stool.

Gets the job done. Thats about it.

By Diego

from Newark, CA

Comments about Universal Percussion UP197 Round Double-Braced Drum Throne:

I think it is way overpriced. It gets the job done, and that is about it. The reviews hyped it up more than they should have. It is good for a temporary throne or a practice throne. I would hardly call it a throne, more like a seat.

Flimsy Junk

By 1327510

from New York, NY

Comments about Universal Percussion UP197 Round Double-Braced Drum Throne:

Flimsy junk. You get what you pay for in this case. Wobbles all around. Hard to adjust height. Seat is very thin. Feels like it will break in no time. Don't waste your money.
