High-Resolution Music Production with Classic Analog Sound.

The world's most popular professional audio interfaces.

Universal Audio History

Often regarded as the father of modern recording, M.T. "Bill" Putnam Sr. founded Universal Audio in 1958. The inventor of the modern recording console, the multi-band audio equalizer and the vocal booth, the late Bill Putnam Sr. was the first engineer to use artificial reverberation in commercial recording and was also involved in the early development of stereophonic recording. Many of his innovative studio and equipment designs are still in use today.

Ten years after its founder's death, Universal Audio, Inc. was re-founded in 1999 by Bill's sons, James Putnam and Bill Putnam Jr. They wanted to carry on their father's legacy not only by reproducing his classic analog recording equipment, but also by introducing new digital recording tools capable of recreating the sound and spirit of vintage analog technology.

Today, Universal Audio still hand-builds its classic analog gear, and goes to great lengths to deliver the identical sound and performance of units built decades ago. On the digital front, Universal Audio's award-winning UAD Powered Plug-Ins platform features authentic analog emulation with all the warmth and harmonics of true analog sound. Whether analog or digital, software or hardware, Universal Audio delivers innovative, superior quality products to its customers worldwide.

Apollo professional audio interfaces combine high resolution sound quality with realtime UAD processing to produce authentic analog sound. These FireWire/Thunderbolt-compatible* interfaces allow you to track audio through UAD analog emulation plug-ins on both Mac and Windows 7 with near-zero latency.

Class-Leading Sound Quality

Apollo offers extraordinary 24-bit/192 kHz sound quality, with the lowest THD and highest dynamic range in its class.

Built-In REALTIME UAD Processing

Using onboard UAD-2 plug-in processing, Apollo delivers a range of authentic analog tones from Ampex, Lexicon, Neve and more, with as low as sub-2ms latency.*
*Some UAD Powered Plug-Ins sold separately.

Thunderbolt Connectivity for Mac

Apollo is compatible with Intel's high-bandwidth Thunderbolt technology.* Using optional Thunderbolt connectivity provides more UAD plug-in instances, increases performance at high sample rates and reduces UAD plug-in latency in the DAW.
*Thunderbolt connectivity is Mac-only.

Hardware Design and Workflow

Numerous design details like digitally controlled analog monitor outputs, high-visibility LEDs for full input and output metering, professional-grade connections and standalone operation give you a fast, natural workflow and better results.

*Two of the same model can be combined to double the I/O, but Apollo and Apollo 16 models cannot be combined on the same computer to increase I/O.

**MADI I/O used for multi-unit cascading; cannot be used to connect to other MADI gear.
