The Universal Audio 710 Twin-Finity is a radically different UA preamp design which combines the classic retro warmth of UA tube design and the transient bite of solid-state in a 2U, half-rack, all-metal chassis. The UA 710 microphone preamp and DI was created specifically to add the tonal versatility and sonic inspiration missing from generic audio interface preamps. The key to the UA Twin-Finity 710 preamp's sonic flexibility lies in its innovative circuit design. The unit's solid-state transimpedance input amp simultaneously drives separate, phase-aligned tube and solid-state gain stages, which are then summed to a single output. The mix between the 310-volt single-ended class-A triode tube stage and solid-state transimpedance stage is controlled via the Blend Knob. Blending is continually variable between 100% tube and 100% solid-state offering a practically infinite range of unique pre-amp tones and the ability to easily dial-in your own signature sound.Like all Universal Audio preamp designs, the 710 Twin-Finity features dual gain-stage controls (Gain/Level), which can radically vary the amount of coloration and distortion by allowing you to crank up the input, gain like a guitar amp. The VU meter features a unique Drive mode allowing you to see how hard you are driving the input stage.Versatility makes the 710 the perfect preamp partner for any mic collection. Plus, the discrete JFET DI input circuit can also easily handle any electric instrument. Guitar and bass players will especially appreciate the 710s ability to bring out the best of both active and passive pickups. The 710 Twin-Finity is designed and built at UA headquarters in California, and includes a 19" rack-kit for mounting one or two units.

I started recording in my home studio a little over three years ago and I was never pleased with my vocals from the preamp from the interface. Since then i've been looking for that piece of equipment to make my vocals sound sweet like the professional recordings, I was alwasy skeptic of buying a preamp and it still not being what I needed being that the good ones were very expensive. But after giving in and purchasing the UA 710 I am verrrrrryyyyyy pleased and satisfied with my recordings now, I absolutely love love love this pre amp accompanied with the TLM 103 I get the best vocals ever. I would highly recommend this for anyone trying to get their vocals sounding like the professionals....trust me.
After years of using an mbox2 pro as my preamp I decided it was time to warm up the sound and get something that has tonal options. Preamps aren't cheap, so the ability to have one preamp and with a turn of a knob get different tones basically saves money. Less gear that does more tones is always great and the 710 does this fantastic.
Warm warm warm, the ability to go from trans to tube is great and really does shine through. It's subtle sometimes but the difference is there, especially in the high end.
For the money/tone/options this is the best preamp out there.
The pros use this, and it's easy to hear why.
Universal Audio has delivered once again. Alot of people ask me " What do I need to get a professional sound on vocal tracking?" Simply put, get a 710 pre. In combination with a decent mic and technique the 710 will deliver every time. The versitility is outstanding. You can be 100% SS or 100% tube or anywhere else in between. Some of my more expensive pre's dont have that capability. The 710 is also used in multi-million dollar facilities.....So ask yourself, if its good enough for the big dogs, why should'nt I get it? You will be hard pressed to find a reason not to get one.
