This is a nice stand, with an easier way (squeeze hand grip stystem) to adjust height. I like the tri-leg system that un-folds and LOCKS IN. The other style of mic stand that has folding legs without a lock use a set-screw and ALWAYS FAILS after awhile. The set-screw strips out! With this Ultimate leg locking system (like on their guitar stands) to hold the base in place I won't have that problem again. I bought 4 of them. My only complaint is the folded length is about 6 inches longer that the other sytle of folding-leg mic stand. And, they don't fit in my carrying bag anymore. So, if you're using a mic stand bag, you may want to measure it first.
got this on sale- think I paid about $50.00... still too much. legs don't lock very well... use it about once per month... had it for about a year... just about worn out! if you never adjust (handle it)- I guess it would hold up OK
I own two Ultimate Support Live-T mic stands. Overall I'm quite happy with it as it's been sturdy and dependable, giving me no operational problems at all. The tripod base has worked very well.
However, there are some design problems with the one-hand clutch grip. The grip is oversized, which can make it clumsy for performers with small hands (i.e. children and smaller women) to squeeze and adjust.
More serious however is that the oversized grip interferes with plugging an XLR cable into certain types of microphones such as a Shure Super 55 (thankfully the performer who owned the mic had a quick-release adapter for the Super 55 which worked around the problem).
I still highly recommend this mic stand though, as it's never let me down and it feels like the highest quality one-hand clutch mic stand on the market right now. If it weren't for the mic cable interference problem I'd have given it 5 stars.
