All I can say is this changed my drum sound and drumming for the better! It is super easy to use and my drums sound MINT now. Don't listen to any of the negative reviews. If you can't use this device then there is something wrong with you. You just attach it to the hoop clamp and tap about one inch from each lug nut and a number comes right up on the screen. It even comes with a pamphlet giving you recommended tuning numbers. I was a little annoyed that it just came with numbers for the toms and kick drum, but not the snare drum. Then I noticed it has link to their web site on the bottom of the pamphlet giving you direct access to all the drums and all the numbers for each style of play. This thankfully included the snare drum numbers that I was looking for. I give this device 5 out of 5 stars. Just make sure you hold your hand or put a towel on the bottom head, or which ever head you are not tuning. This way it will just hear the head you are tuning and not the other head vibrating. That's why some people are having a problem cause they are not muting the other head on the other side. Great product and my kit sounds incredible now!!

Like most, I was extremely skeptical of this tuner. I went ahead and bought it and learned that my skepticism was confirmed. The whole concept is fantastic - in theory. I don't believe Tune-Bot translated it very well in to practical application. If you have several hours to spare to fine tune you drums to specific frequencies, then this is the product for you. If you're like the rest of us, you want a quick and precise way to tune your drums that works. It was extremely hard to get each lug to the same frequency. I spent about 35 minutes on one tom tom! I used the "filter" option to help minimize the extra frequencies that are simply present in a hit tom, but it just did not work without forcing it. I used another product and in less than 5 minutes I was able to get a great sound out of the same tom. This is wickedly high priced and has no practical application. Save your money and invest in a timpanic pressure tuner or several drum keys or something like that. It will be money better spent...

Tune bot is great

By Scott White

from ABQ

Comments about Tune-bot Electronic Drum Tuner:

Like most drummers I've always felt like I know how to tune a drum. The tune bot takes it to another level. I guess if you have perfect pitch hearing you may not need this but for the rest of us have a tool which gives a measurable feedback is great. Tune Bot is easy to use and easily allows to tune you drums in a variety of way and more importantly make sure your drum is in tune with itself. You can save your settings for each drum so that it's easy to re-tune if necessary or tune a new head to where you like it. For me it is absolutely worth the money.

Don't Waste Your Money

By James Haas

from Phoenix, AZ

Comments about Tune-bot Electronic Drum Tuner:

This is a completely useless product. I followed the instructions to the letter. Try as I might, I could never get the thing to give me a consistent reading. I would tapped the drum five times in exactly the same spot and get five completely different readings. Every time, every drum. Totally useless. I took it back. Don't waste your money.

Takes forever / very finicky and difficult

By Erik Lantz

from Chicago IL.

Comments about Tune-bot Electronic Drum Tuner:

Gave it another honest try because of the you-tube recommendations. Just couldn't get it tune the drums very quickly or very well. I tried it on a drum with perfect hoops and edges. It took awhile, but I was able to "force tune" the drum to a note from the online instruction book. I then tried it on a known bad drum (low spots in the bearing edges) for a real test to see how it would react to real world use and see if it could find the bad spots. It couldn't. I tuned the drum to the right frequency 218 hz (confusing... so many to choose from) at the edge of the drum, but the drum sounded damped and out of tune (drum went out of tune faster than it took to tune it). The tune bot said the drum was in tune, but it obviously didn't sound in tune (because of the bad edges?). Be careful with this one, very expensive. I have trouble recommending this one.

Let's be honest...

By Duell Jackson

from Rockford, IL

Comments about Tune-bot Electronic Drum Tuner:

This product is NOT revolutionary. This product is a guitar tuner, adapted for drums. There are many other products, some that existed, and were patented prior to Tune Bot coming to be. Now this company is attempting to patent the equivalent of patenting the idea of a chord. This wouldn't be a big deal, except Overtone Labs is suing other companies (out of existence) who have created and developed software-based versions of what this, and others prior to this, guitar tuner does. Tune Bot is not unique, Tune Bot is not even first with this idea, but want to claim they are. Other equally effective, even superior, drum tuning tools are out there, and at a FRACTION of the cost of Tune Bot. Can it help you tune your drums better? Yes, but at $100, Tune Bot should be relegated to gimmick status, AND the bargain bin, with the other $15 guitar tuners.

Awesome Little Gadget!!!

By Maynard Barnum

from Raymond, WA

Comments about Tune-bot Electronic Drum Tuner:

I Love this thing!!! Not that I had a difficult time tuning before, but this takes the guess work out of it. Some nights I'm just having an off night and have trouble hearing the tones from my tension rods and this thing comes in really handy. Not only can you get close... with this, you can be dead on. I love that you can also quickly check your overall drum tone while drums are mounted for just a quick check to see if you're gonna need to tune. I understand why some people don't like it, it does take some time to get to know it and save the settings for your drums and heads, but once you get it set up it's awesome. And I found this great tuning guide if you're not sure where to start... http://www.tune-bot.com/tunebottuningguide.pdf So yes it can take some time until you get used to it, but will save time tuning later. So to me, Totally worth it.

Watch the videos

By Robert Koziol

from Chicago

Comments about Tune-bot Electronic Drum Tuner:

I am a rookie used drum owner, so I bought a tuner to help set them up. I love my clamp-on guitar tuner so this thing made sense to me. This has a microphone instead of picking up the vibrations directly like the guitar tuner, so it's tricky. Just watch the videos on the manufacturer's website and/or you tube for tips. I'ts nice you don't have to move it to each lug like the pressure gauge tuners. You can tune by frequency or by note directly, which again being a rookie, sounded like a good easy option for me. I put new batter heads on, tuned the bottoms tighter for less resonance, keep my wife happier, and away I go.

Comments about Tune-bot Electronic Drum Tuner:

I just picked up the Tune-bot and used it on my 5 piece with a 20" bass drum. It really helped me focus the tone and my kit sounds the best it ever has!

To start with, I used some of the suggested settings from the manual. This is a great way to get used to the Tune-bot operation and the stock tunings from the manual were awesome. As an added bonus, the feel of the kit also improved and the 16" x 20" bass now sounds like a deep 22" and plays like butter.

I've read some negative reviews concerning ease of use but A) if you spend a few minutes up front reading the manual and B) have basic math skills (only for some of the advanced features), you shouldn't have any issues.

I own a few tension style tuners but the Tune-bot is in a completely different class. I'm very happy with this purchase and look forward to the prospect of my drums never having a "bad day" again.

Comments about Tune-bot Electronic Drum Tuner:

Bought this the day I bought my new DW Performance kit. Put EC2 heads on the toms and tuned them to specific notes. Love having the 10" tom and 16" Floor tuned to the same note an octave apart. Took a little trial and error, but if you stick with it and follow the instructions, this device works!!

Comments about Tune-bot Electronic Drum Tuner:

Even though this product has mixed reviews, for me personally, this tuner worked very accurately and well altogether. It exceeds your expectations and in my opinion is worth every penny spent! So far, it has performed very well consistently ever since I got it. Overall, if your tuning method isn't working, give this a try to make tuning easier, and to make your drums sound better! Also, a bit of advice... DON'T GET A TENSION WATCH!

Comments about Tune-bot Electronic Drum Tuner:

This thing is definitely the best one for tuning drums. As it says in the instruction manual, the tune-bot let you tune your drums MUSICALLY, not mechanically, finding the best tone and frequency. I don't know why some people find it difficult to use and said that it doesn't work, I didn't have problems with that. Obviously you need to be patience in order to find the best tone and have the same frequency in each of the tension rods, but is totally worth it.

Comments about Tune-bot Electronic Drum Tuner:

Yes it might take some time (maybe a few hours) to figure out what kind of sound you want (top head tighter, bottom head tighter, tight/loose snare sound, etc). But after that, this will give you that sound every time. You will have YOUR signature sound. I watched the YOUTUBE videos on the product and, for me, it was that easy. You will have to spend time alone with your drums. If you have a guitarist or bass player that insist on playing at the same time, that won't work. But again, once you find your sound, they'll appreciate it too.

          By Paul Sanchez

          from Kent, WA

Comments about Tune-bot Electronic Drum Tuner:

I got a Tune-bot for Christmas, and I am disappointed. I read the instructions, watched some videos, and tried it. When I hit the head at a lug, I get a different reading each time I hit it. What gives? First time, it will say 214, next time I hit it, it says 044, next time it will say something different. I've tried it on two snares, and two toms, same thing. Same thing when I turned on the filter. And yes, I scrolled it for a snare and a tom, and the top & bottom heads. I've never used a Drum Dial, so I can't compare the two. Good idea, but still some bugs in it. Save your money; trust your ears.

The Tuning answer for most of us

          By Robert Ward

          from Anchor Point, Alaska

Comments about Tune-bot Electronic Drum Tuner:

Having purchased an old used kit I needed to completely redo everything. The Tunebot showed me bad heads, and even an oval shaped snare. After repairing the faults the tunebot put my 5 toms and bass & snare all in great separation and harmony. I could not do this by ear and other devices did not help me. Now I feel like playing, and it sounds so good.
