The Dominator is built like a tank but is super fast and light. I wanted two things in a pedal: direct drive linkage, and longboard configuration. So that basically gave me the option of Axis or Trick. The compression spring on the Trick is just a bonus. The fact that it only comes as a longboard is great as well, as it gives you much more leverage and the ability to manipulate the pedal differently from a shortboard using part of, or the entire foot. I have the double pedal version and it's very smooth and balanced. The beater stroke, footboard height and spring tension adjustments are so easy I wondered why no one else's thought of doing it this way. It's the only pedal that I'm aware of that you can tweak all the settings without getting off your throne. Some pedals have too many adjustments for me but this is just enough to really tailor the feel to anyone's style. I was curious how the compression spring would compare to a traditional extension spring and it's much more precise and has a broader tension spectrum than regular springs. No pedal allows you to vary the spring tension as greatly or as quickly and easily as the Dominator. I've had Axis, DW, Tama, etc. pedals and double pedals and this is by far my favorite. Because of the aluminum construction, direct drive linkage, and longboard configuration this most closely compares to the Axis. In my experience with Axis they seem to fall apart after a while and are tough to maintain. The Dominator is basically similar to the Axis in feel and speed but with the added bonus of tank-like construction and a genius spring design. It also doesn't hurt that it's one of the coolest looking pedals I've ever seen with it's black brushed aluminum parts and stainless steel beaters. The only things to note are that the beaters will kill your bass head if you don't play with some kind of patch, and that the rails that extend to the pedal hinge could be a minor annoyance if you play barefoot. I've played barefoot a couple times on it and it's noticeable but didn't bother me at all. Overall this is a truly innovative piece of gear and is of the highest quality. For all the death metal speed demons out there: If you're looking for some Axis pedals I highly recommend trying these out first.

Package arrived, and on one side indentation. Upon opening box, the left pedal had visible damage,to box. the left pedal extension that connects to right pedal was sticking right out of the box. it appears to be un-damaged, but for this amount of money, shipper, trick, should pay some attention to how they ship their product. Also, unlike DW, left pedal, while there is velcro provided, it still creeps. Trick must not be aware that velcro does not work on all carpet surfaces. DW has spring loaded anchors. Trick should modify their pedal, so that it does not move.

Comments about Trick Dominator Double Pedal:

First of all let me say - I replaced the beaters for this pedal as soon as I got it, not due to the stock ones being bad or anything, just I'd heard about the detonator beaters and decided to upgrade to a lighter set with them.

The pedal is fantastic. As a direct drive pedal that splits into two separate pedals, it's built extremely well. The design is fantastic. Currently, I am using these with an electric drum kit and they work wonders. I am not a drummer for nearly as long as I have been a guitar player, but my two drummers and I have been playing on these pedals quite a lot. With the lighter beaters they're incredibly light and responsive. It's kind of one of those "you've got to try it to know how it feels". My only complaint is that the way it connects to the bass drum is a little weak. It's a spring loaded bar that you push up from the back and it drops to lock onto you r bass drum module. It comes off quite easily, even when being quite light footed after about an hour or less of play. Just something to consider. Overall excellent experience!

Comments about Trick Dominator Double Pedal:

These pedals are well built and very smooth. I can now do heel toe kicks on my slave pedal which is awsome for practicing and working my weak foot. I'm still tweaking to find my sweet spot though because there's so much you can do to these pedals settings wise. I think I've found it but am still exploring. The best setting for speed I've found is pedals on the lowest setting which is 10 the beaters about 5 to 6 inches from the head and the spring tension all the way tightened. I'm just having a hard time controlling and coordinating my beats with this setting. Could be my ankles aren't strong enough or that ive never used a direct drive or long boards. Oh well I'll just keep practicing. I Also like that it's two pedals in one.

Comments about Trick Dominator Double Pedal:

This pedal is simple and amazing. I've had issues with chains and springs breaking but this isn't an apparent issue with this pedal. It is smooth and lightning fast... not to mention powerful!
The only thing that puts me off about this pedal is the expensive triggers. I play speed/death metal and this pedal is perfect except for the accessories for it. After spending that much money for a pedal, I really don't feel like spending the same amount on triggers. I do love the performance of these pedals though. I have used dw 5000's, speed cobras, pear eliminators, etc. these are the best just so pricey.

Comments about Trick Dominator Double Pedal:

The Dominator is built like a tank but is super smooth and fast. It's got all the features I need to play extreme metal with it's longboard and direct drive. It's like a much heavier-duty Axis. The thicker aluminum parts and sturdier construction make the pedal indestructible but don't hinder speed. All features like the independently adjustable beater height, beater stroke, footboard height and spring tension can be done with a drum key without getting off your throne. Trick has smartly put marks on everything so you know where your adjustments are in relation to one another. As if this weren't enough this is the only pedal I know with a compression spring. This is totally ingenious. So much so I don't know why everyone hasn't copied it. The spring is internal to the pedal and it's adjusted by turning a knob. That's it. No springs flopping around. No twisting a little screw under the pedal and then twisting the lock nut down to secure it, etc. The black finish is a very nice touch as well. The double pedal driveshaft is well-made too. The only minor issue I have is the beater. It looks cool and work great but being that it's aluminum it will destroy a bass drum head in no time even with a patch, unless you use a Kevlar one. If you're in the market for an Axis or something similar definitely check out Trick.

Comments about Trick Dominator Double Pedal:

Let me start off by saying i was so happy when i saw the made in USA sticker on the box. I expected china or taiwan they seem to just be the standard nowadays. So it goes w out saying the machine work and build quality are absolutley spectacular. I have had pearl eliminators(2 sets actually) tama iron cobras and there is just no comparison. No and i mean NO play in the slave pedal. It reponds just as well as the primary. Very easy to adjust. And they are two singles u make them into doubles. This is the last pedal u will ever need. These pedals are the answers to drummers prayers. Go the extra mile n spend tht money its more like an investment. U and your band will be glad u did.

Astonishing build quality, superior adjustability and a feel like NO OTHER! Just upgraded from DW3000's and the difference is beyond words. I was immediatelly able to play faster, smoother and with greater force. I ENJOY playing these pedals, they elevate the drumming experience from every imaginable perspective. I will never be without a set of Trick Dominators! Most reviewers note a learning curve associated with these pedals, where I expect that is true my playing improved instantly. I felt comfortable with them in two minutes! GET THESE PEDALS...

Comments about Trick Dominator Double Pedal:

Just got the pedal in and I am pretty happy with it. It is not really a double pedal, it is two singles that convert to a double. The universal joint is very thick and beefy with each side riding on four big bearing.Overall build quality is very high. Idk if this would be considered a pro or a con, but there is no spikes on the slave but four patches of Velcro. It holds very well, but it is kind hard to adjust the slave potions quickly because it really sticks to the carpet and you have to pull it off. Movement of the pedals is very smooth and silent

I replaced my DW 5000's with these pedals and there was an obvious improvement in smoothness and response. I'm no pro drummer by any means but the way I look at it is that a good pedal is a good investment.
I tried alot of the other models out there, demon drives, speed cobras, ect. and for a little more money these are much better. They are a double pedal that can be used indivualally if down the line you change your shell pack to have two bass drums.
I'll be using these for a very long time.
