I've had this pedal now for about 1 yr. I cannot say enough good things about it. I've had ZERO issues. I set the spring tension, foot board height and stroke adjustments and have never looked back. High quality, smooth as silk and FAST. I can't play this pedal as fast as it wants to be played. The beaters alone are perfect for metal and are extremely well made, as is the rest of the pedal. You will not be sorry you bought this. This is the pedal other manufacturers are trying to meet in terms of quality, value and playability. If you are a high speed player, look no further.

  • Killer Pedal!

As reviewed by Brad on 7/13/2009

The Dominator is built like a tank but is super fast and light. I wanted two things in a pedal: direct drive linkage, and longboard configuration. So that basically gave me the option of Axis or Trick. The compression spring on the Trick is just a bonus. The fact that it only comes as a longboard is great as well, as it gives you much more leverage and the ability to manipulate the pedal differently from a shortboard using part of, or the entire foot. I have the double pedal version and it's very smooth and balanced. The beater stroke, footboard height and spring tension adjustments are so easy I wondered why no one else's thought of doing it this way. It's the only pedal that I'm aware of that you can tweak all the settings without getting off your throne. Some pedals have too many adjustments for me but this is just enough to really tailor the feel to anyone's style. I was curious how the compression spring would compare to a traditional extension spring and it's much more precise and has a broader tension spectrum than regular springs. No pedal allows you to vary the spring tension as greatly or as quickly and easily as the Dominator. I've had Axis, DW, Tama, etc. pedals and double pedals and this is by far my favorite. Because of the aluminum construction, direct drive linkage, and longboard configuration this most closely compares to the Axis. In my experience with Axis they seem to fall apart after a while and are tough to maintain. The Dominator is basically similar to the Axis in feel and speed but with the added bonus of tank-like construction and a genius spring design. It also doesn't hurt that it's one of the coolest looking pedals I've ever seen with it's black brushed aluminum parts and stainless steel beaters. The only things to note are that the beaters will kill your bass head if you don't play with some kind of patch, and that the rails that extend to the pedal hinge could be a minor annoyance if you play barefoot. I've played barefoot a couple times on it and it's noticeable but didn't bother me at all. Overall this is a truly innovative piece of gear and is of the highest quality. For all the death metal speed demons out there: If you're looking for some Axis pedals I highly recommend trying these out first.

  • trick dominator

First of all i can say this pedal is nothing like i exspected it to be...it is an awesome pedal but i thought it would have a light feel like axis pedals do but yet it doesnt it has a light feel but its lighter than an iron cobra or any dw pedal. This pedal makes double bass feel alot eaisier at high speeds but harder at slow speeds and harder to play doubles and triples on a singe foot. the pedal since it was direct drive i thought i would be getting alot more speed out of them after playing at a top speed of about 210 bpm on my iron cobras but when i got these i could get up to a top speed of 230 bpm. but overall this pedal is a beast its very evryr soild and if your a speed demon this is probly not the pedal for you but if you wanna get a nice soild hit in every stroke play around 220 bpm this pedal is good for you becasue you ahve more controll out of ever hit than you do with axis.
