I purchased the Ultra-Light mainly because I travel for a living and needed something to keep my practice time while in hotels. For that, it certainly meets the need. Fit and finish were excellent and the action/set-up were just right for me. Easy to tune with an electronic tuner. However, for a beginner the Ultra-Light's very narrow body presented a challenge, and I never felt comfortable with positioning. A strap helps, but the dual purpose strap-pin/plug-in makes fitting a strap a bit of a task. I traded my Ultra-Light for a Traveler Escape Original and would recommend that model for beginners over the Ultra-Light.

Returned this one and got the higher quality Les Paul shaped traveler with the humbucker. This guitar has a weird balance to it, though pretty well made. I found it hard to play.

A Good Travel Companion

By Talisan Gunner

from Indy Indiana

Comments about Traveler Guitar Ultra-Light Electric Guitar:

This thing is so light and compact. I put in in my carry-on and it fits nicely in the overhead bins. On long car trips, I can play it comfortably in the back seat or the front passenger. I use the Vox Amplug and headphones, it's got a killer tone. The only thing I don't care for is the lap support. It just doesn't fit my style of playing. I took it off and left it at home. The bottom line is that long trips go by in a flash when you have your guitar. You have nothing else to do, so you may as well practice. With my laptop and Protools, I tracked an entire demo album on a flight from Detroit to Amsterdam! I was in First Class, so I had plenty of room. Try that with your full size Les Paul!

Excellent action and sound for a traveler - a few quirks

By Michael Bek

from Laguna Niguel, CA

Comments about Traveler Guitar Ultra-Light Electric Guitar:

Bought the ultra-light electric as I didn't want additional weight from an attached wood lap rest. Tried several competitors (Hofner, Martin, Washburn, etc.) but really liked the size to put into my backpack (with neck sticking out) for weekly travel on planes coupled with a roll-aboard. Neck action and sound quality from the humbucker pickup is really good for this guitar (warmer than some of my regular full size guitars. The weight balance between the fretboard and body is ok - plays easier with a strap than with the metal lap rest. Stays in tune well despite lots of bends. Wish they had countersunk the four screws on the back connecting the tuning peg mount to the body - snagged one of my shirts - solved that with some felt strips. Overall, pretty impressed with this little package.

Traveller's Best Friend

By TOM KING

Comments about Traveler Guitar Ultra-Light Electric Guitar:

I was a little unsure about purchaing this at first. I thought that this could possibly be the worst investment, but absolutely want to have something to take on an extended trip overseas. My main concern was that the action might be terrible. After just a couple of days I feel the investment paid off! The quality of the instrument is impressive for the price. I was immediately comfortable with the size and feel with and without the detachable lap rest frame. I do find that the lap rest frame does make the instrument a bit more well-balanced when standing and playing. For the most part I intend to play sitting down on an airplane and probably won't even use this, opting instead to rest the tail of the guitar against the side of my thigh. Not having a volume or tone knob doesn't bother me. I plan on using a Digitech RP300 pedal which has more than enough options to make any small adjustments. Bottom line: I would consider using this even when I am not travelling.

Small, Light

By Michael McCabe

from Branson, MO

Comments about Traveler Guitar Ultra-Light Electric Guitar:

Both the Pro and Con... Small and Light. It is all neck in the weight, but easy to adjust to. No volume or tone control, but the higher priced models have those added features. I use my iPhone to connect with it, and small headphones. Standard 1/4 inch output and standard strap pins, not sure what that other review was talking about... I spend 2 or 3 days a week in a hotel. This allows me to easily carry a Full Length guitar, full sized fingerboard with me, at only 28 inches and 3 pounds. This is a practice instrument. Very portable.

Comments about Traveler Guitar Ultra-Light Electric Guitar:

We have some problems with tune... Maybe it's just a new one guitar and it takes time to have a good sound.
It is very comfortable to play on this guitar, it lays good in hands. Sound is good, but tone isn't clear, especially when you play chords (melody is ok).

Comments about Traveler Guitar Ultra-Light Electric Guitar:

I keep it in my car to practice. Sound is good. It's almost a little too light. Slightly feels like story. The metal bar isn't quite the right size to sit on your lap. But it does the job.

Comments about Traveler Guitar Ultra-Light Electric Guitar:

I travel frequently for work and this is a great guitar to bring with me. Its light, compact size is ideal for traveling and it plays well. It took a little getting used to playing on such a light weight guitar but it was well worth it as I can now play on the road.

Comments about Traveler Guitar Ultra-Light Electric Guitar:

Great guitar. I travel a lot overseas and got this since I missed practicing while on the road. Works like a charm and fits into my suitcase. I have been practicing a ton since I have it, great to keep me busy when jetlag hits in the middle of the night. Quality and tone are excellent, I have a headphone amp with me but it even sounds great unplugged. Highly recommend it.
