Overview

The Escape Mark III is a full-scale acoustic/electric travel guitar with advanced features for the discriminating player on-the-go. The Escape Mark III is a full 25-1/2"-scale acoustic/electric travel guitar with a headphone amp built in. The proprietary In-Body Tuning System uses standard tuning machines relocated into the body, eliminating the need for a headstock. As a result, you’ll have the same full-scale playing experience you’re used to on an instrument that’s 26% shorter and 47% thinner than a typical, full-sized acoustic.

The built-in Shadow headphone amplifier produces a crisp, clean signal through headphones for private practice sessions. A Shadow Nanoflex pickup under the saddle senses the vibrations of the strings and body for an acoustic-style sound without the bulk of a resonant body. The control plate includes volume, treble and bass controls, a built-in chromatic tuner as well as a headphone output and aux-in for jamming along with your favorite tracks. A standard ¼" output jack allows you to plug into your favorite amp.

Features include a mahogany body with cutaway for high fret access, and a bolt-on mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard. It has standard tuning machines and uses standard acoustic strings, measures only 29-1/2" long, and is ready to play right out of the gig bag. The Escape Mark III is a perfect solution for traveling acoustic players unwilling to compromise on scale length, and looking for a compact yet comfortable guitar. Fits easily in airline overhead compartments in the included deluxe gig bag.

Comments about Traveler Guitar MK3 MHG Escape Mark III Travel Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought this as I travel 95% for work now and never get much of a chance to practice/play when I'm home. It's small enough to take on a plane in the overhead and has stayed in tune over the past 2 months. I had an original Escape but grew frustrated with it's tendency to be quite neck heavy, so I sold it 5 years ago. I really miss practicing so I looked into the Mk3. The Guitar Center in Allentown, PA--where I was working for 3 months ordered one in for me to try out. Overall the Mk3 is much better balanced and is better sounding with a good pair of headphones. It's great for hotel rooms as no one complains when you play late at night--truly great whether you play with headphones or without. I ordered the mahogany finish as I prefer the overall look to the lighter ash-- There is a very nice grain pattern in the one I received from Guitar Center!! The supplied gig bag is of good quality and my only negative is that it doesn't hold a standard 8.5 X 11 inch sheet of paper [that I typically print/write music on] in the side pocket. The new Shadow electronics are pretty nice and the built in tuner is nice so I don't have to carry a clip-on one and perhaps lose it. Overall it's a very nice travel guitar and I'm glad I bought it. So far it stays in tune well, and is well constructed. Really something to look forward to in the evenings after a long away of work!.

Comments about Traveler Guitar MK3 MHG Escape Mark III Travel Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I am a drummer, and have played for most of my life. I recently decided to learn to play the guitar. My father grew up playing guitar, and also played professionally. He and my mom are amazed at how for I have come. I practice for as many as two hours plus a day. I am loving it. This is my 4th guitar since July 2016. Okay, to the guitar... My father loves it and has not been happy with an Ovation since purchasing it. He loves the Traveler MRK III, and now wants one. That is a great endorsement right there. Never expect the stock strings to perform, and the ones on the traveler are okay, but not great. I have given them a good run, but put a set of Elixir Nanoweb lights on today. The tuners are just fine, and the guitar stays in tune once the strings are broke in. With the stock strings, the instrument sounds nice and rich, but with the new strings on this thing really comes to life. The quality of the MRK III is great! I love the finish. The shape of the neck is comfortable and fast. The included case is very good quality as well. This is a great one for sitting in the living room while watching television. The wife doesn't mind hearing just the strings. I do have a music room to include a custom acoustic electric drum set. I have been around music and instruments all of my life, and this is a wonderful travel/practice guitar. I am so glad I was able to get a great deal before they raised the price another $100.

Comments about Traveler Guitar MK3 MHG Escape Mark III Travel Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I know nothing about amps or headphones so got some basic advice like maximizing volume from the guitar and controlling final output from amp or headphones, and that I should hollow out the midrange that made a ton of difference in the sound. Also poor headphones and amps gave me poor sound at first, but when I got on better equipment I found out the inconsistant poor sound was my fault. The guitar sounds great on good equipment, actually quite amazing.
I gave it a five star based on the sound for the money.
