Traveler Escape EG-1 Mahogany Travel Electric Guitar

Played great right out of the box with a fresh 9V battery. Will probably re-string, but that's a personal touch. The earphones are puny, but if that's all you have, they'll do. Use a good set of headphones and the distortion and clean tones are quite good. Action could be a bit better, will have a tech take a look. Overall, looks, sounds and feels good.

Best choice as far as Travel Guitars Go

If you are looking for a decent, light travel guitar, this is a great product. Comparing this guitar to an SG or Strat is like comparing apples to oranges, as I and many others who bought this guitar was for the purposes of traveling convenience; which is why I gave it a 5 star rating. Action on the guitar is decent and stays in tune for the most part. Lock in tuners would be an improvement though. The Pocket Rockit Built-in pre-amp is the most attractive thing about this guitar since this is a travel guitar and shouldn't require other things such as a Pandora's box or other belt amps. One thing I don't like about the guitar is the placement of the lead and Pocket Rockit. The lead or headphone plug can get in the way if you're sitting down while playing this guitar since this is a smaller guitar. Another thing you may want to invest in is some better headphones. I am sure most people have a high quality set of headphones laying around though. It doesn't come with a shoulder strap and I found that using my full size strap is a bit overkill... so I used the strap from my guitar hero controller and it works perfectly haha, I would recommend doing something like that if you need to.

Fun to Play

I travel 50 to 75% of the time for work. This is great for me. Played well right out of the box. Use it at the hotel with a Line 6 Pocket Pod, IPOD, and it screams. I was very surprised. Great for lay-overs at the airport also. Well worth the money if you travel alot. Locking Tuners would be a nice improvement since it's a bit of a trick to restring but otherwise I'm having fun with it and I'm able to keep up with practice while out of town.

Very nice with a few cons.

The guitar is very light with lots of features ... plug into an amp or earplugs. B/c of the design, it doesn't fall out of tune. It plays well but sounds thin. The carry bag is cheap. Hopefully it's reliable. So far so good but the nobs & switches look a little suspect. Like it a lot but I can imagine someone can make this better one day ... but there really isn't too much selection in an electric travel guitar.
