  • wow!

As reviewed by boz on 1/4/2011

just got this axe and all i can say is wow! im currently in afghanistan so the compact size is great, the carrying bag is very handy with two pouches for misc accessories. the tone is great i was curious if the onboard clean/distortion head phone amp works thru not just head phones but thru an actual amp and i was pleasently surprised it does! it has killer sounds thru the pignose i brought out here with me, the clean is crystal clear and how dirty do you want it again, distortion is way sick and the added benefit of not having to haul a dirt pedal around and still have the effect is sweet. this is a great follow up to my travel guitar speedster, travel guitar you have outdone yourself what a great travel companion!

  • A truly GREAT little guitar

As reviewed by stephen whitmore on 12/20/2011

I've been an acoustic player for several decades and have recently started my electric education. I've owned a Gibson SG, an Epiphone Les Paul and a Traveler Speedster (which I liked a lot, despite its limitations). The Speedster encouraged me to try the EG-2, which I like better than either the SG or Les Paul full-size models. It has all the features of the bigger guitars, (even some items the bigger guitars don't have, like the headphone jack, the additional input for audio devices & built in overdrive) including the full-scale neck and the great size of a travel guitar. It also weighs FAR less than the full size solid body guitars. What's not to like? In fact, I love this thing! You will, too: Buy it!

  • Have guitar will travel, airline pilot perspective...

As reviewed by Mark zabo on 6/7/2011

Was looking to replace my Traveller speedster after using it for the last two years. It was nice but never liked the tone or the smaller fret board. I am an airline pilot so portability was a huge deal. Narrowed my search down to the EG2, Steinberger, and the honer. Got a chance to play the Stein and the EG2. both played really nice. The EG2 feels much more like a real guitar then my speedster and I actually like the Acton of the EG2 better then the stein. What pushed me over the top was the built in amp with connections for headphones and an IPOD. I have used this guitar for over a month now and logged 1000's of miles and many airplane rides. Works awesome. I really like to use it with IRig, amplitude, and my Bose noise canceling headphones. You can can get some really good tones, especially love the preset ones in amplitude. And using the imported backing tracks, I can have a blast. BTW with this set-up it is really quiet. I have asked people staying in hotel rooms next to me if they here anything, they all say nothing. It also has some great tone using a headset plugged straight into the guitar. It has a built in clean and distorted position, both have a good sound to them. You can use the aux and plug in your iphone foe backing tracks. I really have not figured out the tone knob, seems like when I mess with it the sounds decreases and the tone goes very flat. Probably just me. Also I have to mention the case, it is a huge improvement over the speedster. My speedster got pretty beat up, this case is super padded and there is a very nice size compartment on the front to store things ( there is actually 2, the one on top is pretty small, I just keep picks, capo etc.. In there). Overall if you travel a lot this is a great axe.
