Compact, yet full-scale and equipped with electronics that make practicing fun.

The Traveler EG-1 Standard is a full 24.75? -scale electric guitar featuring a compact single-cutaway body shape that provides vintage looks and modern comfort to the traveling guitarist. • Perfect for the road

As reviewed by David Miller on 12/31/2013

This is my third Traveler model. Previously, I owned the Ultra-Light Acoustic and Original Escape. I wasn't particularly happy with either: the Ultra-Light too small, and the tone of the Shadow electronics on the Escape left something to be desired. But I have finally found what I've been looking for with the EG-1. I travel A LOT and absolutely need a guitar that will deliver quality practice time. After my experience with the other models, it seems to me that electrics are better suited to the task for Traveler's compact design. After a professional set-up by Robert Tice, the tone and playability are excellent. The sound of the Pocket Rock-It onboard amp is only so-so played through my Koss Porta-Pros, so I use a Vox AC30 Amplug instead. The Amplug gives me control over gain and tone as well, and lets the guitar do its thing. I gave the EG-1 four stars rather than five because I think Traveler can do a better job with the cavity the tuners live in. If you don't trim the string against the post just right, you're going to get snags in your shirt. I'm also not crazy about the shape of the neck, but that's probably a personal preference. Despite being onboard an airliner on average 15 days every month, the neck stays true, a testament to the overall design and construction (pressurized air is VERY dry). The EG-1 won't replace your Les Paul, but having one will allow your treasures to stay safely home while you go galavanting around.

  • Great for practice & travel

As reviewed by Irwin Zaetz on 4/19/2014

I just purchased an EG-1 because I was looking for something light to take with me when I travel. I have to say, so far I love it. I am using it straight out of the box. I haven?t taken it to be set up yet and I am pleasantly surprised with its tone and fret board. I need to use it with a strap to feel comfortable playing it. Even when sitting. It has a distortion switch. However it is not adjustable. I haven?t tried using it with my amp yet. I?m having too much fun just plugging in the ear phones and using the 9V battery. As the other review said, it is not a replacement for your other guitar/s. However, it?s light weight, the fret board and built in 9V pickup makes it a great practice guitar.

  • a life saver!

As reviewed by joshua harris on 6/17/2013

I am a disabled Vet, and this guitar was perfect for what i needed. I have been playing guitar for about 25 years. When i got injured, i was not bale to stand or even be comfortable playing a guitar. That is when i found this little beauty. I was so impressed with the tone quality, and the playability , that I fell in love with playing guitar again! This was a HUGH tool in my recovery. I would recommend this to anyone that has an injury. ESPECIALLY a wounded warrior.. as my title states, This guitar was a life saver!
