  • module set up

As reviewed by Bill Whittaker on 5/2/2011

With any electric kit you will have problems with triggering until you go through the basic and advanced trigger settings and adjust retrig, sensitivity, mask time etc... When I first started using electric stuff I was frustrated because mine didn't work right. I had roland stuff out of the gate. It took me a lot of time researching to learn to do it so that my modules would work right with my pads. If you can adjust the trigger settings on this module then it should work perfect like mine do now. I actually sent my trigger settings to Chuck at Axis Percussion to help other drummers with set up of their ekits using roland modules. I had to figure all this stuff out before anyone was explaining it in detail. I hope this helps. Ask the sales guy if you can adjust trigger settings on the module. If you can then you just got a nice deal on a good electric kit.

  • A Good Buy

As reviewed by Jere Lading on 3/26/2013

I have had the Traps power pads for couple of weeks now. I put them on my PDP/DW Maple Fusion acoustic set. They do everything that they are advertized to do. Easy to set up. They are excellent for apartment practice. I have not gigged with them but it wouldn't be out of the question. If you've got a good amp then you get a good sound. The action is almost as good as playing acoustic or electronic with mesh heads. And for a fraction of the cost. The control module may not compare to other manufacturers but you get what you pay for. Other manufactures charge more for their control module than I paid for the power pads set with a control module. There are lots of voices so you can taylor your set to your needs. If you want an electronic set, you want it to look as good as an acoustic set, and you don't have $1500 to $2000 to spend, I highley recommend these power pads. When I got my set I set them up in just a few minutes. I found that one of the tom heads was not as load as the other heads. I called Traps, The owner answered the phone by-the-way, I had a replacement in just a few days. No hassle, no questions. Traps support is superb.

  • A really GREAT Idea/or not

As reviewed by Rick on 7/27/2009

I will start by saying that the idea of this system is amazing. Really helps you keep the feel of your drum set without the feel of an electric kit. We had a lot of trouble with the triggers. Also the drum rolls on the snare kept missing hits... ehhh... It is good for practice but can get frustrating... If the traps company can fix this problem... this will be the best system out there... I cannot wait...
