NEW REVIEW - Trace really is back!

Ok ,I have a '94 Trace 1215smx 15" 300wt combo that i used on the road in a classic rock band and I gave it total hell! It would handle any room but not an out door gig. It started to show its age so I bought an ashdown mag 300 because trace was owned by gibson and putting out crap. Well the ashdown was made in china and didn't last long. It had developed the dirty volume knob syndrom you find in cheap equip. So I went online to consider another trace. I recently read that they were made by peavy. NOT TRUE!! I bought mine 10/09 and it was shipped in the box from England. Peavey simply provides american warehouse space. I ended up taking the 715x and WOW! What a rig! I hear people online say the older trace is good but the newer is not. This rig sounded better than my 94 ever did! WHY? ,,the built in tweeter gives the rig a cool bi-amp feel. If you are going for versitality this is your rig! The 7 band seems to be more user freindly and at 500watts has pleanty of earth shaking thump!

Strong Hi-Tech Monster

Trace Elliot is back with a bang! The 715X 500W Combo is far and away the best amp for the money on the market. I tested the Mark Bass Jeff Berlin combo, Fender Bassman, Ampeg, GK etc., etc.... The Trace Elliot out performs all of 'em. The Mark Bass amp was very light weight and produced a decent amount of punch, but is not in the same league as the TE. The seven band EQ, the Pre Shape (scoops the mids) and the compressor make a very formidable pre amp. The power amp is smooth and powerful. You will also appreciate the input level section. An XLR direct output is in on the front panel. The Celestion Speaker and tweeter deliver a gut punching experience that is the Trace Elliott trademark sound. The green lights on the front panel are really cool too. The 715X is a heavy weight champion. Go get one.

Good choice for serious player

I started using this amp a few months ago. I am very satisfied with it. I have played a number of gigs, with no problems. The EQ is well done and the compressor works well. I have played varied venues from small bars to "A" rooms and the amp has performed well. It seems a bit sensitive at the input, particularly with my active '77 Music Man so I keep that pot throttled low. My Rick, however, works fine with ample input headroom. The only improvement I can suggest is to drop the 80lbs down to about 60 for us old guys-but don't change the amp. If you play alot, and need the power and the 15" speaker, you will like this amp.

AMAZING BASS AMP!!!

ive been playin bass for about 3 years now and i have never heard a bass amp that sounded this good!!! it has a lot of EQ setting so that you could improve the sound and with the foot switch it is easy to change back and forth. it is VERY loud which is perfect for a band. i tryed a lot of amps including ampeg, behringer, Gallien-Krueger, and fender and the Trace Elliot amps sounded by far the best quality of sound out there if you are considering a new bass amp i strongly suggest this one!!!
