Overview

Using exotic woods normally reserved for high-end or custom basses, the Traben Array Limited 5S brings a striking spalted maple top to the Traben style and sound. Combine the custom looks with a modern soapbar and humbucker pickup combination with 3-band active EQ and you've got one hot bass. The pickups are also controlled by volume and blend knobs. The solid brass bridge provides a sonic benefit that you will hear and feel. The Array body is slightly smaller and perfectly balanced for lighter weight and modern feel.

Traben's unique philosophy for building electric basses centers around their large bridges for bigger, badder tone. These bigger bridges are designed to have more mass and more bridge-to-body contact for added resonance in the body.

One Great Bass!

By Bassman

Comments about Traben Array Limited 5S 5-String Bass:

By far, the best bass I've owned. Sounds great, plays great. And with the 3 band EQ, you have total control of your sound with a quick flick of a knob. I put some flat wounds on and I can slide all over the neck with smooth continous sounds. And the fith string has opened a whole new world of playing. Being able to drop down to that Low "D" or low "C" and even all the way down to the Low "B" It all sounds good!

one of the best basses I've ever played.

By Ryan

Comments about Traben Array Limited 5S 5-String Bass:

this bass is a great deal; any bass half the quality of this one is way more expensive from brands like fender or ibanez. it has a great sound and the action can be dropped supper low making it amazingly easy to and to play fast. not only is it well built, it also looks pretty stinking cool. the bridge is one of the best looking features, but the body itself is beautiful, deffinently the best looking bass i have ever seen. it stays in tune and i haven't had any problems with it in the year that i have owned it.

As versitile as they get!

By Aaron

from Spokane, Wa

Comments about Traben Array Limited 5S 5-String Bass:

I bought this bass in early January of '09 and I'm so glad I took the chance of a new brand named Traben. This bass guitar is amazing! I play both hard, in your face metal and Christian church music and this bass switches gears in the matter of seconds! The 3-band EQ is perfect along with the jazz and humbucker pick-ups. To switch between my 2 bands all I do is just switch the pickup, and mess with the tone and I can play both a hard metal punch tone or a smooth jazz contemporary sound! I shopped for months looking for a new bass that fit my needs, especially a 5 string and after each bass I tried, I always came back to this one, not only for the price even though that was a huge bonus because its literally a steal at that price, but just the feel of the bass and the tone. The bridge looks a little weird at first as it is very unique, but it really brings out the tone and sustain in the bass thats just so unique and irreplaceable.

Best bass I've ever played

By Mr_Rogers_666

Comments about Traben Array Limited 5S 5-String Bass:

I got it in splat maple red for my 16th birthday and I couldn't be happier. It plays and sounds like it costs twice as much. The neck plays fast since it isn't as thick as other five string necks. The bigger bridge really does make a difference. The five control knobs give you the power to truly shape your tone. It may be a little heavy but then again what five string isn't? Only change I'd make would be to make the battery compartment easier to access like the some of the Ibanez basses.

One word... Amazing!

By Robofish7591

Comments about Traben Array Limited 5S 5-String Bass:

Let me say one thing... this is one of the best basses I have ever played! This bass plays better than some that are twice as expensive, and it looks twice as good too! This bass gets a great smooth bass sound when compared to others in the same price range. It also handles the higher notes well. The look of this bass is second to none, from the headstock to the monstrous bridge, every part of this instrument is absolutely goregous! The only problem with it is that is is really long so it will not fit in my standard case. Other than that is is marvelous, it has a fast neck and it isn't overly thick like some oter 5 strings that I have played. I just can't stop saying just how amazing this bass looks! My band mates were blown away by how awesome it looks, and it sounds just as good as it looks! I highly reccomend this bass to casual players and pros alike.

amazing

Comments about Traben Array Limited 5S 5-String Bass:

I don't really have much to add to the previous two review... This bass is just an incredible instrument. The 3-band eq and active pups really give you all the versatility you could ever ask for. You can pretty much get any sound you could possibly want. The factory set-up was pretty decent. Action was pretty low, but not buzzing low. The neck is true and fast. Intonation is great everywhere. The flame bridge really does help out the significantly with sustain too. It is a pretty heavy bass, with just a tad neck heaviness...but it is a 35in scale 5 stringer so you cant be too picky. In my opinion, this SLIGHTLY off balance feeling is really comfortable. If you're thinking about buying one of these, don't hesitate; its a quality piece. Also, make sure you get to a store and see the red version, its the most beautiful thing I've ever seen in my life- thats why I bought it.

Totally Wicked

By The JazzMan

Comments about Traben Array Limited 5S 5-String Bass:

I got this bass as a Christmas present for myself this year, Dec 07. All I can say is WOW !! The bass is stunning to look at and catches all the stares with the awesome bridge. I'm just getting back in to playing the bass after a few years off. When I saw the Spalted Red bass the first time, it was love at first sight. The bass has a very solid feel and the tone is the best I've heard, hands down. The bigger bridge truely gives bigger sound. I'm looking forward to a long relationship with this bass and Traben has a permanent customer. Thanks again Traben !!!
