Exotic figured wood meets up with stunning style and tone!

Using exotic woods normally reserved for high-end or custom basses, the Traben Array Limited 5S brings a striking spalted maple top to the Traben style and sound. Combine the custom looks with a modern soapbar and humbucker pickup combination with 3-band active EQ and you've got one hot bass. The pickups are also controlled by volume and blend knobs. The solid brass bridge provides a sonic benefit that you will hear and feel. The Array body is slightly smaller and perfectly balanced for lighter weight and modern feel.

Traben's unique philosophy for building electric basses centers around their large bridges for bigger, badder tone. These bigger bridges are designed to have more mass and more bridge-to-body contact for added resonance in the body.

Traben Array Limited 5S 5-String Bass Features:

  • Basswood body
  • Spalted maple top
  • Traben Tribal Flame bridge
  • 5-ply (maple-walnut-maple-walnut-maple) bolt-on neck
  • 2 graphite neck-reinforcement rods
  • 2-way adjustable truss rod
  • 35" scale
  • Rosewood fretboard
  • Abalone dot inlays
  • Traben SM humbucker and soapbar pickups
  • Traben T3 active 3-band preamp/EQ
  • Volume and blend controls
  • Chrome-plated brass nut

Deep Bad Boy

I got this bass about a year ago and have been impressed the more I keep playing it. I took a risk buying it becasue I hadn't (much less no one else) heard of Traben and didn't know if they were ok. I'm glad I took that risk; this think eats your heart alive. You can't attain the full affect of the bass on a cheap crap amp; most of the tone is below the range that small speakers can reporoduce. In fact, I noticed in recording that the bass tone cannot be heard through some computer speakers as well. What gets me is how hot the pickups are; I need to the set the DI at church to -40dB in order to allow the sound engineer to be able to set the other player's volumes high enough. The playability is very nice, but the feel is not easy to get used to. I played for two years on a Fender 4s P-Bass and the switch was very awkward. I definitely do not reccomend this puppy to starting bass players, but anyone who wants defined tone, can handle to power, and has played for a little while can't go wrong with this thing. One more thing: I thought the large bridge thing was a bunch of crap; but, it really makes all the difference in the world. Not to mention its the best looking bass on the market: hands down.

amazing

I don't really have much to add to the previous two review... This bass is just an incredible instrument. The 3-band eq and active pups really give you all the versatility you could ever ask for. You can pretty much get any sound you could possibly want. The factory set-up was pretty decent. Action was pretty low, but not buzzing low. The neck is true and fast. Intonation is great everywhere. The flame bridge really does help out the significantly with sustain too. It is a pretty heavy bass, with just a tad neck heaviness...but it is a 35in scale 5 stringer so you cant be too picky. In my opinion, this SLIGHTLY off balance feeling is really comfortable. If you're thinking about buying one of these, don't hesitate; its a quality piece. Also, make sure you get to a store and see the red version, its the most beautiful thing I've ever seen in my life- thats why I bought it.

Totally Wicked

I got this bass as a Christmas present for myself this year, Dec 07. All I can say is WOW !! The bass is stunning to look at and catches all the stares with the awesome bridge. I'm just getting back in to playing the bass after a few years off. When I saw the Spalted Red bass the first time, it was love at first sight. The bass has a very solid feel and the tone is the best I've heard, hands down. The bigger bridge truely gives bigger sound. I'm looking forward to a long relationship with this bass and Traben has a permanent customer. Thanks again Traben !!!

One word... Amazing!

Let me say one thing... this is one of the best basses I have ever played! This bass plays better than some that are twice as expensive, and it looks twice as good too! This bass gets a great smooth bass sound when compared to others in the same price range. It also handles the higher notes well. The look of this bass is second to none, from the headstock to the monstrous bridge, every part of this instrument is absolutely goregous! The only problem with it is that is is really long so it will not fit in my standard case. Other than that is is marvelous, it has a fast neck and it isn't overly thick like some oter 5 strings that I have played. I just can't stop saying just how amazing this bass looks! My band mates were blown away by how awesome it looks, and it sounds just as good as it looks! I highly reccomend this bass to casual players and pros alike.
