Product Information

A professional sample engine for drums.

Toontrack Superior Drummer 2.0 "The New York Studio Legacy Series" is a complete overhaul of the original dfh Superior engine. The Toontrack team made painstakingly sure not to lose any of the sound quality, attention to detail, and musicality of their popular drum sampler.

Superior Drummer 2.0 has been redeveloped for optimized use with e-drums with more effective use of sample layers and much improved loading times. It includes custom MIDI played by Nir Z accessed through its new customized MIDI engine and arranger, EZplayer Pro, and has standalone capacity through Toontrack solo. Premium UK-based software developer Sonalksis has outfitted the Superior 2.0 with a 5-band EQ, high and low pass filter, compressor, gate, and transient designer filters.

The interface is reminiscent of EZdrummer with its simple handling and layout but gives the user layer upon layer of in-depth features to create the ultimate drum track.

Superior Drummer 2.0's samples were recorded by Pat Thrall, Neil Dorfsman, and Nir Z at Hit Factory, Avatar Studios, and Allaire studios, NY. The three have worked with artists as diverse as Meatloaf, Celine Dion, Nick Lachey, Sting, Bruce Springsteen, Dire Straits, Beyoncé, Björk, Kiss, Joss Stone, Genesis, John Mayer, and Chris Cornell.

Pure Greatness

I've been using this product now for 2 weeks and it is pure greatness. As a non-drummer, it is the greatest addition to my studio in a long time. I write for TV and film and in a single word, the drum tracks created with this software are simply realistic and sound utterly amazing. They are final cut material even without tweaking any settings. I highly recommend the Superior expansion kits as well as the Monster Midi Packs from Toontrack as well.

ABSOLUTELY SICK!!!!

This program is insane. All the plug-ins for this like Metal foundry,Drum kit from hell and many others are the best you can get IMO. BFD2 even works with this Toontrack product. If you are into Hip Hop/Techno then this is NOT a product for you. If you want real drum sounds and killer samples then this is the best of the best. You can even trigger it with any electronic drum kit on the market and use it live. A must have.

Sadly Disappointed

I was really disappointed with this product and it's lack of versatility. Many of the tracks sounded like someone just learning how to drum. Out of sync and crude. I have been using DR-880 for years but thought I would try something new. If you are considering a drum affect to record with, please consider the Roland DR-880 first. The MIDI is nice, but there isn't anything I can't do with the DR-880. I will say that the people at Toontrack were very helpful in helping me solve a minor problem. So I guess if MIDI is youre thing...
