The Toca Mechanically Tuned Djembe has a lightweight and durable seamless synthetic shell that sounds great and travels well. The djembe's low mass tuning system allows fast, accurate tuning that stays in place.
Protective rubber bottom and tips on tuning lugs protect your floor's finish. The drum's black finish with black hardware gives a striking look to go with its dynamic sounds, including an authentic goatskin head finished in black dye.

I'm happy with the drum,it sounds great and it was ready to play right out of the box. Light weight makes it easy to handle. Great for playing with acoustic guitar sets, very good highs but lows are not as impressive.
Just Bought another Black Mamba Freestyl Djembe with mechanical tunning. I notice that they have changed the hoop by adding a V-ring or extended hoop which in fact adds double the tension points. The V ring attaches to the hoop in 2 spots so while the old version had 6 lugs on a 12" with single connections to the hoop the new version has 6 lugs with 12 connections to the hoop. This makes for better and finer tunning for sure. I also have a New Freestyle 2 with the all weather head and it has the same new hoop style. I am now able to achieve any tonal range I need regardless of type of music with ease. I would now recommend these drums for clinicians as well as Musicians for Gigs with all the new improvments.
