I purchased this djembe from a Five Star Drum Shop in Fresno, CA and don't you think the owner of the knows what products "fit the bill" to sale? This is an extremely light djembe, but packed with the much needed "sweet tones" that one would find playing a more expensive one. The accessory bag that it comes may pose as a bit of a "fashion statement," but it does its job well!
I've had this drum for a few months and have used it at various drum circles and a few performances. The biggest perk I see to this drum is the range in tone you can get out of it. You can tap any thing from a thunderous boom to an ultra-sharp snare-like snap out of the head. I was a little skeptical about the sound I would get out of a plastic body, but was pleasantly surprised once it played in a little. The sound is not as rich as you would get out of a wooden drum, but the tradeoff is weight. This thing is uber light and easy to haul around with the included bag. I think the only improvement would be that the head could stand to be a little thicker. You might lose some of the high end, but it would bring out a richer tone. Overall it's a great drum, and cheap enough that you won't sweat it getting a few dings. I'd buy it again.
This is truly a great buy, the price is fair, i was actually thinking about buying another Djembe made by remo,but after playing this one for a few minutes i decided to buy it, the main thing i like about this Djembe is the range in tone you can get out of it, its simply amazing.
