Comments about Tobias Toby Deluxe-IV Electric Bass:

I've been a singer/songwriter for 18 years and play nice guitars like a Martin DRSGT Acoustic Electric and a Fender AMerican Standard Telecaster, but for my new bass that I wanted to flush out my demo's, I didn't want to break the bank. I'm really happy with this bass. I love the tone expressor knob, it really gives you a lot of options as far as tone. The tone is surprisingly good for a budget bass. I got the dark stain finish and it looks pretty darn cool. I'm new to playing bass, but this one is pretty easy to learn on...doesn't feel hard to play. I'm very happy with this bass and would definitely recommend it to anybody looking to spend less than $300 on a bass. You'll be glad you did!!!

Comments about Tobias Toby Deluxe-IV Electric Bass:

I Bought this originally because of it's looks. The walnut finish is beautiful and once i installed some strap locks and strapped her on. Whoa! light weight, Nice fretboard, fast neck and VERY comfortable to play! even more so than a fender bass. I've had this bass now for 3 years originally bought it after the precision bass starter kit beginnings and currently it's my go to 4 string bass just because it's so darned comfortable, plays nice and it's a great one to learn set up and truss rod adjustments on as well. I'm writing this review because I came here to purchase a back up in case something happens to the one i play with, so I decided I had to write a review. Great bass for beginners. even get good sound with a set of power slinkys. Quality is there. My 5&6 string basses are both from Ibanez.

Great starter - intermediate bass with some caveats.

Comments about Tobias Toby Deluxe-IV Electric Bass:

Where to start. I picked this up for a fun extra bass, not as a main one, also to evaluate it as a starter bass for a friend. Out of the box it looks pretty, nice finish, but it is the worst set up bass I have ever seen. Completely unplayable, not a fret on it that wasn't pure buzz, a complete disaster. That said, a couple hours of setting up, fixing buzz, intonation, tightening loose knobs, everything, turned this into a fantastic bass. Pretty versatile for sounds, If I use it a lot I might throw some new pickups in it, but the stock ones are not bad at all. For the price its outstanding. However, if you are not comfortable doing the set ups yourself, plan on having a store do one before it can ever be played.

Comments about Tobias Toby Deluxe-IV Electric Bass:

I had my eye on this bass for a while. When Guitar Center put this beauty on sale, I grabbed one. I know this wasn't made by Tobias, and that this is just a copy in the style of one he designed before selling his company to Epiphone. That being said, this is definitely worth more than the price tag. It weighs about 7 lbs, and has a nice finished feel to it. There is nothing significantly great about this bass, but it is a good starter, jamming, and gigging guitar.
