When you're looking for some new cymbals to put on your drum set, it might be tempting to go for the biggest, heaviest ones you can find. But slow down - unless you put sustain and volume before everything else, that would be a mistake! If you're more interested in fullness and speed, you'll actually want a lighter model, like one of the thin cymbals from this section. These lightweight cymbals have much quicker attack and decay than heavier ones, which makes them the undisputed kings of rapid, technical playing. And having less sustain comes with a fringe benefit of its own: they'll sound cleaner to a microphone, so they're naturals in the recording booth.

In the lineup of thin cymbals, you'll find just about every variety you could expect. You've got your basic crashes and rides, like the Zildjian A Custom Crash Cymbal and the Sabian AA Bash Ride Cymbal. There's also a whole slew of specialty cymbals and effects such as the Meinl Classics Custom Splash and the Paiste Signature Thin China Cymbal. Plus, if you want to make a visual impact onstage, you can also get your hands on eye-catchers that look as incredible as they sound, like the Zildjian ZXT Trashformer Cymbal and the Meinl Byzance Extra Dry Thin Ride Cymbal. And that's only scratching the surface of what this section has to offer.

One thing you might notice as you browse here is that there are tons of thin cymbals labelled as top sellers, and there's a good reason for that: cymbals are such a personal choice that there's no such thing as a "best" one in any given category. Which means that thousands of drummers are going to pick hundreds of different cymbals instead of piling up on a few standouts. So as you start looking for the right fit for your setup, keep that in mind! It's not about which cymbals are the most popular - it's about which ones are perfect for you.
