Overview

The LO-215 is a unique flat top that gives players the chance to enjoy everything great about a small body instrument, but still benefit from the extra volume of a longer scale. The LO-215 starts with a solid Sitka spruce top on a classic 0-style body. The dreadnought scale length means more punch and projection than you'd expect from a small-body guitar.

The Sitka spruce combines with the flamed maple back and sides for a bright, sweet tone that's great for any style of music. The 1-11/16" bone nut is comfortable for either fingerpicking or strumming, and the vintage-style Golden Age tuning machines keep the 215 in tune through extended playing. The ivory body binding gives the LO-215 a refined, classic look that complements the vintage sunburst finish.

Case sold separately.

Comments about The Loar 215 O-Style Small Body Acoustic Guitar:

I bought this as a used model for my granddaughter's Christmas present. Although used, it is in excellent condition. After polishing it and changing strings (DR Rare - 11-50), it looks almost new and sounds great. I still need to lower the action a tiny bit, but it's a joy to play and sounds great. I have a LO216BK, which has mahogany back & sides and this one is maple, so it's a bit brighter, but this will not be a problem.

She should love it as much as she loves the LO216. If not, I'll be happy to trade!

Comments about The Loar 215 O-Style Small Body Acoustic Guitar:

I was very biased towards low price Chinese stuff, but this time I had to change my mind. The guitar sounds well, warm tone and bluesy. It's perfect for fingerpicking. You need a luthier to work on the bridge to adjust the action (it's a bit high, I prefer it lower) but, apart from this, it's a good instrument. You can take it with you wherever you go without worring about damagings or scratches or whatever can happen to a guitar on the road. It's cheap but tough and it's worth!

Comments about The Loar 215 O-Style Small Body Acoustic Guitar:

I have the LO216 (black), which is apparently not available through MF. The difference is that the back and sides of the 216 are laminated mahogany, not maple as is the LO215. I got this to have a small bodied acoustic to play at home and to improve my fingerpicking. First of all, it's beautiful in black. I'm not much on sunburst finishes. The size is small, but quite loud. I did a setup after installing new strings (Martin Marquis Silk & Steel - see my review). The action is very low and intonation is perfect. I am so in love with this guitar that I have not played any of my others since I got it. Fortunately, I have not had any problems. I also bought a Guardian hard case (again, not available through MF), but this guitar spends far more time out of the case than in.

I am just a beginner and this is my second guitar. The first was very cheap and hard to play. I love the feel of this guitar and the sound is fantastic. My skills have really taken off since purchasing The Loar guitar. It is well made and really pretty!!

Comments about The Loar 215 O-Style Small Body Acoustic Guitar:

The sound on this little guitar is quite good. The low E string is a bit flat, but I plan to put better strings on in so that will probably help. I like the wider neck, but barre chords play easily. I really like this guitar.

Comments about The Loar 215 O-Style Small Body Acoustic Guitar:

Despite the bridge issue, which was a case of insufficient adhesive, I still think this is a sweet guitar. I did not send it back for fear of receiving other problems and I had already fallen in love with this box by way of sound and playability. I couldn't even detect the problem but my luthier showed me how a slip of paper disappeared under the back of the bridge. It's being reattached as I write this. Really can't wait to get it back.

Comments about The Loar 215 O-Style Small Body Acoustic Guitar:

This sucker is loud! You wouldn't expect it from a small body parlor like this. It has a dreadnought length, which adds a richer tone. It is very mid-rangy which is the nature of these guitars. It will cut through the mix, allowing your sound guy to be a happy man. The guitar itself is beautiful. Bone saddle and nut, all wood, which I can't believe for the price. As soon as you hold it, you feel like Robert Johnson. It is so close to the L-1 in tone and look, some have asked me if that is what it is.

I have to say I was surprised. I have always been a dreadnought player, but this has been the guitar I have gravitated to for practice. I play it every day. I am putting a piezo pickup in it so I can start using it live.

Comments about The Loar 215 O-Style Small Body Acoustic Guitar:

This is a fine reproduction of a 1924 Gibson Nick Lucas. The maple is bright and punchy with a lot of clarity. The build techniques, bracing and sound are very reminiscent of my old '36 L OO.
The neck feels great, kinda chunky but a good grip especially in first position. Well crafted, lovely instrument

Comments about The Loar 215 O-Style Small Body Acoustic Guitar:

I was intrigued by these guitars when I saw them on the site, and I have been looking for a less-irreplacable version of my small-bodied Gibson & Kalamazoo flattopsy hour under. This little machine is a jewel, plays great, feels great, looks great, and it gets warmer and more open with every hour of play.
