A vintage-style jazz box with a carved solid top and single P-90.

The LH-309 archtop is the perfect blend of vintage vibe and modern value. The LH-309's top is hand-carved and hand-graduated solid Spruce. The Loar have carefully placed their own P-90 pickup in the perfect spot for optimal tone. The classic high output and articulate treble response of the P-90 is the ideal complement to the spruce top and maple back and sides, excellent for either rhythm or lead playing.

With a 16" lower bout and a classic 24-3/4" scale, the LH-309 is a nod to original Golden Age archtop designs.

Case sold separately.

  • Loar 309 Archtop is tops for budget archtops

As reviewed by BENJAMIN on 6/2/2014

The Loar 309 that I got from GC is beautiful, hand carved solid top and I have yet to notice any defects as I have read on other sites. It was a bit stiff so I took it to Fred at The Repair Zone in SD and he changed the strings to flat wound lights, lowered the action and even adjusted the P90 pickup. Now it plays like butter with a warm jazzy sound which is good for really any kind of music, jazz, blues, alternative rock etc. Unplugged its..loud enough but plugged-in is where it really shines. I highly recommend it if you're looking for an Archtop and are on a budget.
