The beauty of a baritone guitar compared to simply tuning down is that a baritone's longer scale length (in this case, 27" compared to the standard 25-1/2" or short-scale 24-7/8") allows one to play in a lower register, yet maintain normal string tension. Baritones have been used by artists from Dave Matthews to Duane Eddy to Ani DiFranco.
A baritone will appeal to anyone looking for a deeper guitar tone, including singer-songwriters who find the upper register of certain songs to be a stretch for their vocals. Taylor's 35th anniversary baritone is tuned to B (B E A D F# B). To help achieve a low, robust sound, Taylor chose the GS shape for the XXXV-B acoustic-electric guitar and a wood pairing of Indian rosewood, known for its strong bass response, and Sitka spruce.
Strummers who favor a potent, girthy sound and like to detune will love the Taylor XXXV-B acoustic-electric guitar. The baritone also features a tobacco sunburst top, Indian rosewood binding, an abalone rosette, Taylor gold tuners, a Venetian cutaway and the ES pickup.
Taylor's Grand Symphony Guitar Design
Though you might see similarities to a Grand Auditorium, the GS is unique in both shape and sound. Significant changes in its geometry yield a deeper, more piano-like bass. A wider lower bout and higher, wider waist return ample volume and low-end sustain, in symphony with fuller mids and balanced highs.
Indian rosewood/Sitka spruce body
Indian rosewood seems as if it was created to be in a guitar. The clarity, balance, sustain, excellent bass response, and wonderful coloration and figure are without equal. Paired with Sitka spruce makes the Taylor XXXV-B acoustic-electric guitar an unstoppable combination.
Expression System electronics
Using proprietary pickup technology developed at Taylor, the Expression System amplifies your XXXV-B acoustic-electric guitar with an unrivaled, natural live sound. Onboard tone controls provide added flavor, or set flat for an uncolored, exceptionally clean amplified sound. It's your tone, amplified.
The finish used to create this Taylor guitar's lustrous gloss top, back, and sides was developed at Taylor for maximum durability and resistance to cold-checking. This ultraviolet-cured finish is also more environmentally friendly than traditional lacquer finishes.
Taylor proudly celebrates 35 years of guitar-making with its most eclectic and exotic collection of limited editions ever. The Taylor XXXV-B acoustic-electric guitar and all other 35th anniversary models feature a commemorative "35" fretboard inlay, come with a custom label, and include a certificate of authenticity.
