There's something undeniably inviting about the Taylor GS Mini's scaled-down size, yet a single strum reveals the impressive voice of a full-size guitar. That mix of portability and musicality has proven to be a winning combination that fits into so many scenarios in life, from the couch to the campfire to the concert hall. It's not too big, it's not too precious, and it's not too expensive.

That broad-based accessibility has given it a resounding universal appeal, not to mention a built-in fun factor. The shorter 23-1/2-inch scale length makes forming chords a breeze yet gives the instrument plenty of snap and tuning stability for a rewarding playing experience. The acoustic-electric versions enjoy a sweet upgrade to ES2 electronics. All GS-Mini models include a durable hard bag built by Taylor for the optimal fit.

Tone Woods
A guitar's top is the primary filter and distributor of vibrating string energy through the guitar, which means it has a huge impact on its sound. Sitka Spruce is the most prevalent guitar top wood of the modern era. It blends stiffness and elasticity in just the right proportions which translates into broad dynamic range with crisp articulation. Layered back and sides create a sturdy yet receptive platform for the vibrating string energy sent by the guitar's top. Layered wood is less susceptible to changes in temperature and humidity, making it an excellent choice for players who travel with their instruments or simply require more durability.

What sets Taylor Guitars apart? Unmatched build quality, the most stable and playable necks, a vast array of tonal options, eco-conscious and ethically-sourced raw materials, and a lifetime of service and support.

I have been waiting since the announcement for this guitar to be released. It did not disappoint. It is small, lightweight, comfortable to play and good looking. The factory gig-bag is a dream. It is well padded and a secure way to transport the guitar in the car, on a plane or almost anywhere. It is not a full-size guitar for sure but with the factory medium strings it has a great volume and superb tone for its size.

In short, I give the sound and size 5 stars. The fit and finish were a 1 on the guitar I played. The frets stuck out, the 6th string buzzed out from the 6th fret on and all strings buzzed out from the 10th fret on. Probably due to humidity (lack of) but if you get a new instrument you want to know they took care of it until it arrived in your hands. I love how it plays. It's a small guitar that plays big. It's got great tones for the size. It's the best travel guitar I've played for tone, ease of playing, and overall size. The baby taylors are too small for my hands as I can hardly play a string without hitting two. The little martin is okay but lacks taylors legendary playability AND the GS Mini blows it out of the water volume-wise. I WOULD love to find one that had a good fit and finish. I'd buy it instantly. Because of my experience I hesitate to buy one online

So far, Amazing!

By J

from Los Angeles, CA

Comments about Taylor GS Mini Spruce and Sapele Acoustic Guitar:

I just received mine and so far it is pretty amazing. Fit and finish is typical Taylor, sound is impressive, and it's definitely light and easy to play, especially compared with my dreadnought. Action was set up perfect on mine. Tuners are top notch. The gig bag is a great addition to this package. Did I mention that it looks gorgeous! Well worth the investment. I bought it as a travel guitar and eventually for my son, so I still have to set it through its paces, but I did not feel much difference in size between this and the baby, but the sound is definitely an improvement.

Very Nice Little Gem

By Todd Cochran

from Greencastle, Indiana

Comments about Taylor GS Mini Spruce and Sapele Acoustic Guitar:

Just got my new Taylor GS Mini and it lives up to everything Taylor promoted, and I expected! This guitar sets a new standard for travel guitars to say the least. Nice fit, nice tone and nice price. It doesn't put out the same sound as my 314 but it is still very nice. This ranks right up there with the best $$$ I've ever spent. I have many guitars and each has a purpose. This guitar will allow me to leave my more expensive guitars at home when jammin with friends around a camp fire.

Comments about Taylor GS Mini Spruce and Sapele Acoustic Guitar:

I got my GS mini in the mail yesterday after a two month wait and let me tell you....VERY worth the wait. The sound is bold and beautiful out of this little gem. I owned the baby taylor but it does not compare to this! Feels great sounds great. Taylor is my favorite guitar brand period and this one as usual did not dissapoint. If you have smaller fingers this guitar is a dream!!

This Taylor Is For Real

By Marty S.

from opera124@aol.com

Comments about Taylor GS Mini Spruce and Sapele Acoustic Guitar:

Want to own a Taylor but can't afford one of the full sized ones? Find the baby and big baby Taylors not the answer. Well Taylor has solved your problem with this awesome smaller size guitar. Larger than the big baby, using 12 guage Elixir strings, this guitar produces the familiar bright Taylor tone, which suits those who sing and play. It can produce fairly robust sound which belies its size. The guitar is very comfortable to play, sitting or standing. I spent a heap of money on a Martin earlier this year, but wanted a Taylor because of the difference in sound, but could not afford the regular line. Now this one comes along and I got my Taylor. Get yours too.

Incredible! I did not know what to expect. I just ordered it without trying it out. I've owned both the Baby and Big Baby. The GS Mini blows them away! The sound is huge from a small package and it plays great. I love it!

Taylor GS Mini

By Ben Perea

from Albuquerque NM

Comments about Taylor GS Mini Spruce and Sapele Acoustic Guitar:

Wow! This little guitar is incredible! The sound is anything but mini! This guitar is the perfect parlor guitar. I leave it next to the couch and just pick it up everytime I feel like playing. The GS mini is fun to play and sounds incredible! I have even used it for band gigs and believe it or not people seldom notice that is is a mini guitar! This guitar is well worth the money and hooking up the electronics is more than simple! The only drawback with the electronics in that you do not have tone or volume controls on the guitar itself. Maybe Taylor will change that in the future. Otherwise this little guitar is BIG FUN!
