Overview

There's something undeniably inviting about the Taylor GS Mini's scaled-down size, yet a single strum reveals the impressive voice of a full-size guitar. That mix of portability and musicality has proven to be a winning combination that fits into so many scenarios in life, from the couch to the campfire to the concert hall. It's not too big, it's not too precious, and it's not too expensive.

That broad-based accessibility has given it a resounding universal appeal, not to mention a built-in fun factor. The shorter 23-1/2-inch scale length makes forming chords a breeze yet gives the instrument plenty of snap and tuning stability for a rewarding playing experience. The acoustic-electric versions enjoy a sweet upgrade to ES2 electronics. All GS-Mini models include a durable hard bag built by Taylor for the optimal fit.

Tone Woods
A guitar's top is the primary filter and distributor of vibrating string energy through the guitar, which means it has a huge impact on its sound. Sitka Spruce is the most prevalent guitar top wood of the modern era. It blends stiffness and elasticity in just the right proportions which translates into broad dynamic range with crisp articulation. Layered back and sides create a sturdy yet receptive platform for the vibrating string energy sent by the guitar's top. Layered wood is less susceptible to changes in temperature and humidity, making it an excellent choice for players who travel with their instruments or simply require more durability.

Electronics
Taylor's ES2 is a revolutionary pickup design that delivers the latest in Taylor’s ongoing innovation in acoustic guitar amplification. The heart of the Expression System 2 is Taylor’s patented behind-the-saddle pickup, which features three uniquely positioned and individually calibrated pickup sensors. The location of the sensors enables a more dynamic range of acoustic sound to be captured than ever before.

Together with Taylor’s custom-designed “professional audio”-grade preamp, this system produces exceptional amplified tone and responsiveness. On stage through a PA, plugged into your favorite acoustic amplifier, or direct into recording software, the Expression System 2 faithfully conveys the voice of your Taylor guitar. The Taylor Expression System 2 operates through a proprietary 9-volt battery compartment and easy-to-use volume, bass and treble controls.

What sets Taylor Guitars apart? Unmatched build quality, the most stable and playable necks, a vast array of tonal options, eco-conscious and ethically-sourced raw materials, and a lifetime of service and support.

Comments about Taylor GS Mini Spruce and Rosewood Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I couldn't help but to take advantage of one of GC's promotions and decided on the Taylor GS Mini that was on my Wishlist. Certainly a want, not a need, I kept the guitar boxed until recently and was dismayed when it was taken out of the gig bag. Sadly, running across the soundboard near the top, perpendicular to the neck was a striped imperfection. Initially, I took it for light from a window and noticed the issue when the room was darkended. Disappointedly, the assemblers didn't take heed in production.

Comments about Taylor GS Mini Spruce and Rosewood Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Have not plugged it in yet. Hoping the amplified tone will change my first impressions. Terrible action out of the box. Nut and saddle both need to be worked on. Somewhat disappointed. I mean, it's really got an extremely high action. Almost unplayable!!

Comments about Taylor GS Mini Spruce and Rosewood Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Taylor's most awesome baby - the Taylor GS Mini e Rosewood will always be top notch for me. I'm literally addicted to it! That reach full guitar sound inside the little body is just awesome. I love my GS Mini and if I could only bring it anywhere I would! Only the best tone wood combinations in the world - the Vibrant Sitka spruce top, the warm layered rosewood back and side, that Sapele mahogany bridge and the ebony fret board all packed in this little package, awesomely projected by the superior Taylor X bracing and out of the Expression System that goes with it. The most awesome little guitar out there! SIMPLY AWESOME!

Now that the Rosewood is being regulated as it is considered as endangered, this one should be considered a high value item already.

Comments about Taylor GS Mini Spruce and Rosewood Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Wanted to upgrade the starter acoustic guitar I've played on for many years but didn't want to spend a lot. Got a great deal on this guitar. It's so much easier to play than my old dreadnaught in terms of size and feel. Even though it's a travel size it feels perfect to me. It has a much bigger sound than one would think - not as loud as a dread but still decent. Love that I can plug it in to jam with friends or at open mics. My only complaint is for the price its a laminate back and sides (hence the 4 stars). Sometimes I do feel like you pay a premium for the Taylor name, but overall a really great guitar. Needed no set up out of the box.
