Overview

There's something undeniably inviting about the Taylor GS Mini's scaled-down size, yet a single strum reveals the impressive voice of a full-size guitar. That mix of portability and musicality has proven to be a winning combination that fits into so many scenarios in life, from the couch to the campfire to the concert hall. It's not too big, it's not too precious, and it's not too expensive.

That broad-based accessibility has given it a resounding universal appeal, not to mention a built-in fun factor. The shorter 23-1/2-inch scale length makes forming chords a breeze yet gives the instrument plenty of snap and tuning stability for a rewarding playing experience. The acoustic-electric versions enjoy a sweet upgrade to ES2 electronics. All GS-Mini models include a durable hard bag built by Taylor for the optimal fit.

Tonewoods
A guitar's top is the primary filter and distributor of vibrating string energy through the guitar, which means it has a huge impact on its sound. Mahogany is a hardwood that produces a natural compression, yielding more "roll-in" effect to a note. The compression evens out a lively attack for a more linear response. Layered back and sides create a sturdy yet receptive platform for the vibrating string energy sent by the guitar's top. Layered wood is less susceptible to changes in temperature and humidity, making it an excellent choice for players who travel with their instruments or simply require more durability.

What sets Taylor Guitars apart? Unmatched build quality, the most stable and playable necks, a vast array of tonal options, eco-conscious and ethically-sourced raw materials, and a lifetime of service and support.

Comments about Taylor GS Mini Mahogany Acoustic Guitar:

I love having a 'couch guitar' to just jam on when ever. I was unhappy with the Big Baby model and the Backpacker is really just for camping/travel. The 314ce is my primary gig guitar but after picking up the GSMini, my full size gets neglected. I put Elixir light gauge strings on and this thing plays and sounds like a dream. It might well be my favorite guitar I've ever owned. I recommend this to every player. It can definitely play small venues. At the very least, it's a superb home guitar. I'll use it to teach my kids as well.

Comments about Taylor GS Mini Mahogany Acoustic Guitar:

I agree with all the positive reviews. I own two of them and they are fantastic. I've always liked the idea of a downsized guitar, but every one that I've played or owned sound like what I call "banjoey". (sound more like a banjo than a guitar). Just never played a small bodied guitar with good bottom end. In 2010, I played one at G.C. (when they first came out) and was blown away! Big bottom end, big guitar sound... just awesome! Since then, I permanently injured my right shoulder and just can't play a full sized guitar anymore. So, down the road went my full sized acoustic, and welcome home gs mini! Doesn't hurt my shoulder to play, so I'm back at it. But, even if you aren't a small person, or don't have small hands, or don't have a shoulder injury, this is a great guitar .... perhaps as your only axe!

Small guitar, BIG sound. Consistent with what other reviewers have raved about. The short neck takes some getting used to, and after the first play, I'm already used to it. The Elixir strings that came with it were fab, too. Thank you, Guitar Center!

Comments about Taylor GS Mini Mahogany Acoustic Guitar:

Love this guitar! Have had nylon strings, 12 strings, regular guitar, this beats all.. I bought the mahagony version of the GS mini and cannot say anything bad about it. The neck is smaller, so if you don't have large hands, or if arthritic a bit (yes, am aging
) this is awesome. Thought I couldn't find a guitar with the sound I was looking for, but this was it....not a lot of cash either. Got one for my hub, friend played, he got one too....awesome. All the best of a Taylor, and not large! INSANE!!!

Comments about Taylor GS Mini Mahogany Acoustic Guitar:

I chose this guitar because of past experiences playing larger Taylors and loving the sound, plus the 7/8 size is perfect for me as I have small hands. Very happy with my guitar. It's light, small, and sounds fantastic for a guitar this size.

Comments about Taylor GS Mini Mahogany Acoustic Guitar:

After lining up a gig on the West Coast (during a family visit), I determined that my El Cheapo travel guitar wouldn't suffice. A friend suggested I "seriously consider" a Taylor GS Mini. It was love at first sight. This guitar travels well (easily went through security and fit nicely in the 737's overhead bin). I didn't run through the airport, but slinging this guitar over my shoulder in its well-padded gig bag didn't tire me out. As for sound, the GS Mini may be parlor-sized, but the sound is as big as you need to get for a small venue (utilizing the optional pick-up). The optional Taylor V-Cable, though pricey, gave me some control with its on/off switch & volume control. I wouldn't necessarily use this guitar as my #1 Go-To, but I still wouldn't hesitate to use it as my gig-buddy anywhere at any time.

Comments about Taylor GS Mini Mahogany Acoustic Guitar:

I've had a dreadnought acoustic for 15 years that I just never really got comfortable with. After playing a ton of guitars and even buying a super cheap-o parlor guitar I settled on a small body when I upgraded. The Taylor GS Mini won hands down for price and sound for a mahogany top acoustic. I compared closely to a Martin 000-15M. While the Martin is a work of art, it just did not sound $1,000 better to me.

The sound is unique and rich, the feel is comfortable beyond description for a person my size. I took the Taylor to my weekly jam session, it was the Mini and 5 spruce top dreadnoughts. This little guitar cut right though and you could really hear the unique tone. Could not be happier.
