Overview

From the couch to the campfire to the concert hall, the GS Mini promises big fun for everyone. Inspired by the big, bold sound of Taylor's award-winning GS body shape, the GS Mini scales things down without skimping on sound, packing a lot of tone into a comfortable, portable size and giving you a guitar that's incredibly fun to play. With Taylor's patented straight and stable NT neck, you'll always enjoy signature Taylor intonation and playability. So, wherever you end up, whether you're on tour or on the porch, the GS Mini is always ready to play.

The GS Mini truly sounds like a full-size guitar, and it's not just the volume you'll notice when you strum your 1st chord, but also the depth and richness of tone. The Mini acoustic has a deeper body, a bigger top, and a longer scale than a Baby Taylor. The tone is also enhanced by a full-sized 4"-diameter soundhole and a braceless arched back. The Mini also has the look of a "real" guitar with an inlaid rosette, pickguard, and inlaid purfling lines in the top. Its ultra-portable size makes it a great travel guitar. You can even put it in the overhead compartment of a plane. The Mini also makes an inspiring student guitar for smaller-sized musicians. Comes with a GS Mini hard bag.

I have been waiting since the announcement for this guitar to be released. It did not disappoint. It is small, lightweight, comfortable to play and good looking. The factory gig-bag is a dream. It is well padded and a secure way to transport the guitar in the car, on a plane or almost anywhere. It is not a full-size guitar for sure but with the factory medium strings it has a great volume and superb tone for its size.

In short, I give the sound and size 5 stars. The fit and finish were a 1 on the guitar I played. The frets stuck out, the 6th string buzzed out from the 6th fret on and all strings buzzed out from the 10th fret on. Probably due to humidity (lack of) but if you get a new instrument you want to know they took care of it until it arrived in your hands. I love how it plays. It's a small guitar that plays big. It's got great tones for the size. It's the best travel guitar I've played for tone, ease of playing, and overall size. The baby taylors are too small for my hands as I can hardly play a string without hitting two. The little martin is okay but lacks taylors legendary playability AND the GS Mini blows it out of the water volume-wise. I WOULD love to find one that had a good fit and finish. I'd buy it instantly. Because of my experience I hesitate to buy one online

Excellence Personified

By

from Plano, Texas

I just picked mine up yesterday and already love it. The quality expected from a Taylor has not been compromised one bit. The sound is rich. Great value for the price since you are getting a top quality guitar. I can't wait to get the optional pickup and listen to it amplified. She is my first Taylor and I already know that my Martin is going to start getting jealous.

Taylor Gs mini is amazing

By

from Greentown PA

This is a great little guitar. The sound is rich, excellent bass tones. It plays like a dream. I highly reccomend. If you have the money it is well worth it. Not a toy. This is the real thing. Travel bag well padded, it is only slightly smaller then a full size guitar so not so mini as the model name may indicate but the sound is huge. I took it out of the box, tuned it up and already love it. Ordering the pickup and v chord next as it is setup to install at home and I am definitely going to record using this guitar. Check out all the YouTube videos already about this guitar. I haven't found anyone that does not love this guitar.

Taylor GS Mini

By

from Charleston, SC

Great little guitar! Good tone, good sustain, and stays in tune. Really, the GS Mini is an amazing guitar; it has a big guitar sound, action you'd expect on an expensive guitar, yet it is a small travel guitar! I am totally happy with my GS Mini, would recommend it to a friend or anybody really, and for the price, you can't go wrong. Buy it and you'll have no regrets, no buyer's remorse, you might just wish you had bought it sooner. If you're "on the fence" go ahead and get it - you'll be glad you did.

Best guitar I've owed!

By

from Chandler, AZ

I play a variety of instruments as a hobby and for general catharsis. I first purchased a full-sized yamaha acoustic. I loved the sound, but the body of the guitar was uncomfortable and I was developing tendonitis in my arm from straining to reach. I realize some discomfort is a necessary part of learning most things, but the persistent pain forced me to quit for about a year. I purchased an inexpensive 1/2-sized guitar for my son to learn on, and I found it to be the most comfortable and fun to play; however, it lacks tone. To find the happy medium, I purchased the Taylor Big Baby since it was a bit smaller, but still had excellent sound for it's size and price. A hint of the pain returned messing with the Big Baby, and I heard about the GS mini. After numerous visits to my local GuitarCenter, they finally had one in stock to try out. The shorter neck and thinner body make it significantly more comfortable for my stature. Also, the quality of sound is amazing. I debate getting the ES pickup, since the reviews are mixed. However, after several months of playing the GS, I only have joy and thanks to Taylor for putting out such a terrific instrument.

You can't help but love this guitar.

By

from Central New Jersey

I could write all kinds of things about the amazing sound and how it's not "tinty" or "toy" sounding whatsoever. I could say that it causes "missing time" because you'll pick it up then look at the clock and notice that two hours have just flown by in an instant! I could also go on about how the quality really is solid Taylor....ok, I just did. What I WILL say is this thing is an absolute blast to play (and the sound is really sweet, mellow and smooth). I love this little thing! If you really have a love for playing...get one.

TREMENDOUS GS MINI

By

from Richmond,VA

First of all I am not a big Taylor fan. After purchasing 4 high end Taylors in the past --- all had extreme problems with neck adjustments always changing and I have become a Gibson and Martin purest. Here is the lowdown on this little buger This the only travel size guitar ever made to date that has exellent tone and playability. No others compare, and do not even come close!!! Martin now sells an eclusive GC 0 model at 3 times the price ,all solid wood and th Mini makes it sound like box under water,do the comparison yourself. If you want quality tone n the road ,you better grab one before they raise the price an they are hard to find

Hits the Target Dead Center !

By

from Peachtree City, Georgia

I previously owned a Baby Taylor (BT)which was certainly a good travel and/or practice guitar. However, once I played the GS-Mini, I realized that this was what I was actually seeking when I bought the BT. I own several high end guitars (e.g. Taylor 814) and this GS Mini fits in with my collection like a glove. It sounds so good that after you play a few notes on it, you lose the sense that this is a small scale guitar. In short, this is the guitar every one who is looking at a small scale travel or practice guitar really wants...whether they know it or not at this point. Taylor really got this one right.

Great addition to the family

By

from Florence, MA

I now have five Taylor Guitars- 1991 512, 1998 555, and a 2009 T-5 are the higher end guitars and are all wonderful. I bought a Baby Taylor in 1996 when they first came out, and while I have enjoyed having a guitar that portable and convenient, I have always had some problems with the intonation. So, when I first read about the Mini GS, I thought it would be be the answer to those problems. The Mini-GS certainly does have good intonation, but is really a lot more than an improved Baby. It is considerably larger- actually close in size and identical in depth to the 512. Thus it is actually nowhere near as portable as the Baby T. In every other way, though, it is very much a satisfying good sounding guitar, comparable to a more expensive full size guitar. The neck, fret work, set-up and intonation are all excellent. Perhaps due to the medium strings, it has a very full sound- not as complex as the 512, but really very full and balanced sound. I got the es-go pickup separately. As advertised it goes in very easily and sounds great (I put it through a Baggs Para-Acoustic DI into a Fender Acoustonic Jr.). So- I do not think this is a great tiny guitar- it is just not that small. But for a relatively cheap, sturdy guitar, that is not too big and that sounds and plays like a Taylor, the is really a remarkable instrument.
