Overview

There's something undeniably inviting about the Taylor GS Mini's scaled-down size, yet a single strum reveals the impressive voice of a full-size guitar. That mix of portability and musicality has proven to be a winning combination that fits into so many scenarios in life, from the couch to the campfire to the concert hall. It's not too big, it's not too precious, and it's not too expensive.

That broad-based accessibility has given it a resounding universal appeal, not to mention a built-in fun factor. The shorter 23-1/2-in. scale length makes forming chords a breeze yet gives the instrument plenty of snap and tuning stability for a rewarding playing experience. The acoustic-electric versions enjoy a sweet upgrade to ES2 electronics. All GS-Mini models include a durable hard bag built by Taylor for the optimal fit.

Tone Woods
A guitar's top is the primary filter and distributor of vibrating string energy through the guitar, which means it has a huge impact on its sound. Sitka Spruce is the most prevalent guitar top wood of the modern era. It blends stiffness and elasticity in just the right proportions which translates into broad dynamic range with crisp articulation. Layered back and sides create a sturdy yet receptive platform for the vibrating string energy sent by the guitar's top. Layered wood is less susceptible to changes in temperature and humidity, making it an excellent choice for players who travel with their instruments or simply require more durability.

What sets Taylor Guitars apart? Unmatched build quality, the most stable and playable necks, a vast array of tonal options, eco-conscious and ethically-sourced raw materials, and a lifetime of service and support.

Comments about Taylor GS Mini Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

this lil guitar has a big sound un-amped. Amped and this will sound ever bit as good as it's big brother. Compared with other travel guitars this feels and sounds great. I'd recommend it. Like my other taylor i had it setup, mainly getting bridge lowered. But other than that, out of the box it sounds awesome and i love the sturdy gig bag included.

Comments about Taylor GS Mini Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Just want to say if you are thinking to buy a good traveling guitar this is the one that you can take on trips, parks the sound really shines through with it's rosewood back and spruce top and even when plugged in sounds very natural and the action is great I find myself using this gs.mini more than my main regular size guitar I brought 2 of them because my son could not put mine down he is very happy with his and as always Pete at the totowa store was very helpful in making my purchase go smooth keep up the good work guitar center!

GS-Mini: A Small Guitar that Packs a Large Voice

        By JAMES LAIR

        from Lomita, CA

Comments about Taylor GS Mini Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I give the GS-Mini five stars because it meets and exceeds my expectations. I purchased this GS-Mini (rosewood back & sides, spruce top) from Guitar Center in Lawndale, Ca. for young players, or to take on day trips, or just to have a handy little go-to guitar when I am working something out. I was astonished when I put it up against my other two Taylor guitars: 618ce (maple) and the 518e (mahogany) which I use for entertaining. This little guitar stood right up to those in volume. The tone was warm and rich. I didn?t expect it be as voluminous as the mahogany, nor have the sharp crispness of the maple. But sure enough, its voice was distinctly rosewood with a sweet tone of its own. I did experience some tonal issues from the tenth fret down (Low E & A strings), but it picked right up when I entered the mid to high range. I think it is ideal for a singer who seldom gets into that range of tones. I highly recommend this as a first guitar. If there is a problem, it will not be with the guitar, which a beginner needs to know. The GS-Mini will give the player confidence in the instrument. If you have larger than normal hands, it could be cramped. My hands are not large, and I felt a bit cramped (6.5? long x 3.75? wide). When strumming and fingerstyle play, the sweetness of tone was well balanced across the strings. The size makes it so much fun to play and handle with great ease for both big and small people. It is a guitar well suited to take to jam sessions. Everyone will want to play it, and not let you have it back! Jim Lair
