Overview

The Taylor GA3-12 represents a contemporary take on traditional 12-string design. It has full 12-string tone despite its more slender, hour-glass Grand Auditorium shape. Signature Taylor performance, quality, and value make their sapele/spruce acoustic guitars a great introduction to the solid-wood Taylor experience. The resulting combination provides the perfect guitar for strong, rhythmic playing styles.

Although the Grand Auditorium body style has the width and depth of a dreadnought, its narrower waist gives it the appearance of a smaller instrument, adds treble "zing" across the guitar's tonal spectrum, sharpens the definition of individual notes, and rests more comfortably in your lap. With less mass from the width of the braces, the guitar top moves faster, resulting in a snappy, bell-like tone.

Great guitar and impressive value

By Miles M

Comments about Taylor GA3-12 Grand Auditorium 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

If you're into a 12 string, this is a great guitar and value. I've owned a Gibson and Guild 12 string and sold them in the past because I just didn't like the sound or feel. This one has all of the Taylor quality you would expect with low action and a highly responsive, bright sound (I also own a Taylor 414ce which I'm pretty happy with). I also bought it on sale with case at the store with a $200 off discount so I feel walked away with a really good deal!

Beautiful Little Guitar

By Melissa Martin

from Cherry Hill, NJ

Comments about Taylor GA3-12 Grand Auditorium 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

I bought this guitar for myself as a graduation present and I am just thrilled with the sound and quality. I expected it to be pretty hard to play coming from a standard 6 string, but it is actually easier for me to play as the strings barre much better than on my Ibanez 6 string. I am also able to pick the strings which I didn't think I'd be able to do and I get a great sound. The sound is just gorgeous. It also came with an awesome case, which I didn't expect at all. I mean, this case is serious business, it's nice and hard, and my guitar fits so snugly in it. I would definitely recommend this guitar to anyone, beginner to advanced.

Bang for the Buck

Comments about Taylor GA3-12 Grand Auditorium 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

I have been playing for 40 plus years and have owned several 12 strings before including Martins and Guilds. This one is exceptional for the price. Playability and tone are right on the money. An excellent choice. Of course the Taylor quality is right there too.

Worthy of respect

Comments about Taylor GA3-12 Grand Auditorium 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

I'm now a bona fide Taylor enthusiast. In May 2010 I purchased a GS8-E and love it. I never thought I'd venture into a 12 string - too difficult, tension of strings...This Taylor GA3-12 changed my mind about 12 strings. As with all Taylors, it has great playability (far superior to Yamahas and Guilds that were experienced). And the tone has this creamy/shimmering quality that I, and all who hear it, love. If there is one weakness - it is a touch weak in the base, but only a touch. Very, very good 12 string at a great price.

Taylor GA-3-12 A WINNER

By mSL_UZopO

Comments about Taylor GA3-12 Grand Auditorium 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

Never thought youd find an afforable comfortable 12 string?Well your searching days are over. This Small bodied well balanced simply appointed guitar is as rich and full sounding as its more expensive siblings.Immaculately crafted it plays more like an electric with remarkably low action. No pickguard means more surface vibration and its attack is quick and sustaining.Im a big fan of sapele tonewoods especially over Ovenkol its GA-4 brother. Its closer to mahogany in range not as warm as rosewood nor as bright as big leaf maple its sound is crisp and poppy.Think "maggie may" or "Mr. Tamborine man" and thats its sound. Not as loud nor boomy as a Jumbo but unless your in a band competing for sound its a mute issue. You buy a guitar with your ears and your hands. Its fit must be natural. With tonewoods and body size being a very personal and subjective buying criteria you owe it to yourself to check this GEM out and start from there. For me this is a Winning combination. Its sounds great and plays smooth and will only reward me with rich thick playing that will only sweetin with time.I hope you found this review helpful and informative in your search for the "right" 12 string.

Went to buy my third Taylor and wasn't real sure on which one I wanted until I set down and played this one,I was a little unsure with the GA body style but believe me it has some nice low end and the treble is just right,it really does have full 12 string tone.

holy cow

Comments about Taylor GA3-12 Grand Auditorium 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

This guitar is just excellent. When I got it and strummed the first chord I noticed the action was the lowest out of any 12 string I've ever played. And thanks to the concert body size the bass was amazing and the highs were crisp. I highly recomend it.

Comments about Taylor GA3-12 Grand Auditorium 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

I recently tried out this guitar and I was astonished at it's playability! Every song I played on it sounded surreal. Great action and the smoothest, sweetest acoustic tone I've ever heard. This is DEFINATELY the next acoustic guitar I buy.

Better than the rest...

Comments about Taylor GA3-12 Grand Auditorium 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

...at least for the price that is. I checked out just about every 12 string I could find in Utah. This one was the cleanest sounding and was easier to play than any other that came close to it in price. It does buzz a little in lower tunings but most 12 strings do. Again, its the better sounding 12 stringer out there in this price range.
