Overview

The Baby Taylor's scaled-up sibling, the Big Baby (15/16th-size), makes a sleek yet full-sounding travel companion with its svelte four-inch body depth, which is about a half-inch shallower than the depth of a standard Dreadnought. Slightly bigger than a Baby Taylor and just shy of a full-size guitar, the Big Baby Taylor is ideal for easy-playing, great-sounding guitar fun. The overall size keeps you in the ""portable"" category, yet with an extra dose of volume and fullness. Like the Baby, the Big Baby has an arched back that provides strength and contributes to its big tonal output. All Big Baby Taylor models ship with a durable travel-worthy gig bag made by Taylor for optimal fit and protection.

Tone Woods
A guitar's top is the primary filter and distributor of vibrating string energy through the guitar, which means it has a huge impact on its sound. Sitka Spruce is the most prevalent guitar top wood of the modern era. It blends stiffness and elasticity in just the right proportions which translates into broad dynamic range with crisp articulation. Layered back and sides create a sturdy yet receptive platform for the vibrating string energy sent by the guitar's top. Layered wood is less susceptible to changes in temperature and humidity, making it an excellent choice for players who travel with their instruments or simply require more durability.

What sets Taylor Guitars apart? Unmatched build quality, the most stable and playable necks, a vast array of tonal options, eco-conscious and ethically-sourced raw materials, and a lifetime of service and support.

Comments about Big Baby Taylor Acoustic Guitar:

I am a newbie. I tried some good rate guitars such as yamaha fs800 and epiphone 150. They was great but not the best. I was at GC and had chance to talk with a old man. His recommendation was Taylor, but Taylor is a expensive brand. Therefore, my choices were only between big baby and GS mini. I spent 2 days on playing each guitar, and ended up with bigbaby. I am so happy with my choice.

So far so good.... bright sound, & easy to play....needed a slight adjustment out of the box, to be expected. Seems well made, good value!
    Case was a nice touch.

Comments about Big Baby Taylor Acoustic Guitar:

So after playing a few Martins and a Santa Cruz, i started playing the BB and was blown away. The action was perfect and i could not believe the tonal response for a guitar under a grand. Yes the neck screws have me baffled? but OMG this guitar sounds better than my sig. Yari and my Yamaha. The concave back gives off such a bright mid that you will not want to stop playing. Love the colors and simplicity. Taylor out did themselves w. this guitar. I might go buy another one because they are such a steal. Happy playing.

Comments about Big Baby Taylor Acoustic Guitar:

When I was shopping for an acoustic to replace my old Yamaha, the salesman suggested I play a few guitars without looking at the price tag just to see what feels and sounds the best. I played a couple of Martins and a couple of Taylors, and then picked up the Big Baby Taylor. I was smitten by the sound and action immediately. I put it down and played a couple more guitars and kept going back to the Big Baby. So much fun to play, feather light, and excellent tone. Needless to say it was the least expensive of the ones I tested, but my favorite by far. Very happy with my purchase!

Comments about Big Baby Taylor Acoustic Guitar:

I bought this guitar nearly a year ago but waited until I used it for a while before I posted a review. It fits my body perfectly due to it's slightly smaller size and the contoured body. The action was virtually perfect right out of the box. I love the fingerboard, frets are flawless, and the finish looks more expensive than what I paid for the guitar. Some people are bothered by the screws in the neck, but it doesn't detract from the looks or function of the guitar.
I would certainly buy this again anytime.

Comments about Big Baby Taylor Acoustic Guitar:

I've been playing for 10+ years and sold my old acoustic a while back, so I decided to go to guitar center and check out the selection. I was in the 400-500 dollar range and played a number of Martin, Yahmaha, and Ibanez acoustics before I came to the Big Baby. The rep I was working with actually had to go grab one out of the back, once I told him what I was looking for, because the one on display had sold, which I took for a good sign. I played three cords and I was sold...The action is great, the neck is thinner than your standard acoustic, great for small hands like mine, and the sound is rich and resonant. I played afew higher-end models, in the $1,000-$1,500 range, for comparison and I can say that there is no discernible difference in sound quality other than the slight boost in projection you get from a full-sized dreadnought. You cannot beat it for the price, it is a great guitar and to categorize it as a practice/travel instrument is a gross understatement of it's quality. I feel like I stole this instrument.

Comments about Big Baby Taylor Acoustic Guitar:

I have ALWAYS wanted to learn to play acoustic guitar. Whenever I tried I would get frustrated because my fingers would hurt or could not reach to form chords. I went into Guitar Center during a busy evening, and felt totally overwhelmed with the selection. I walked out with a Yamaha FG700S, but when I tried to play it, it just felt huge. It also just felt like any other guitar. Nothing special. I went back a couple days later after doing some research and bought the Big Baby. It still looks like a normal size guitar, but it is not as deep/thick, and the neck of the guitar seems skinnier to me. I love the non-gloss finish, and that it comes with a very nice gig bag. Still not sure, I then went BACK to Guitar Center to consider upper model Taylors because I thought maybe it was too small, but without needing the electric components, I just don't see the point as a beginner. They all felt good. In fact, a man shopping asked to play my guitar, and asked if he could buy it from me! I'm keeping this big baby and in a few years, when I'm an awesome guitar player, I might splurge on one of those beautiful Taylors with the "Cindy" inlay!

Comments about Big Baby Taylor Acoustic Guitar:

I am a self-proclaimed guitar addict. I love them like women love purses and shoes. So I own a ridiculous number of them, and I have never written a review for one in my 47 years. Until now. I bought a PRS Angelus in January, and really thought I'd never be more excited about a new acoustic guitar. And then I happened to pick up a Taylor (BBT)... I have a 614-CE, the PRS, a Takamine, a Yamaha, and a few others, and this BB Taylor is without a doubt the most incredible sounding guitar I own, and it's not even really close. This will sound snobbish, (and I say it to hopefully lend credibility to my review), but I never considered even picking one of these up before, because I've never played a guitar in this price range that I could envision myself playing after the newness wore off. I haven't taken any of the others out of their cases in a week. And I don't really see myself finding a reason to do so anytime soon. This is simply the most player friendly, sonically pleasing, resonating guitar I've ever had. I know, I can't believe it either, but the fact remains that the ears don't know brands, or price ranges. They just know which sounds stand out to them, and in a blind comparison, I'd wager on my Taylor BBT winning 8 of 10 times. Do yourself a favor, and play one. You'll hear what every reviewer on this site has heard, and you'll be as shocked as we all were.
