Overview

The Taylor 916ce Grand Symphony is a cutaway acoustic-electric guitar that features the classic Sitka spruce top and Indian rosewood back and sides that produce clarity, balance, sustain, excellent bass response, and wonderful coloration. The Taylor 916ce Grand Symphony is adorned with pearl 900 series fingerboard inlays, ivoroid binding, and an abalone rosette. Equipped with Taylor Expression System electronics and a Venetian cutaway that gives full fretboard access, the 916ce has the tools to shine in any music venue.

Taylor's rarest, high-grade Indian rosewood is reserved for our 900 Series. In fact, every material used on these guitars is premium quality, from the hand-selected Sitka spruce tops to the iridescent pieces of abalone used for the inlay work to the elegant Gotoh tuners. The 900 Series guitars are true Taylor masterworks.

Though you might see similarities to a Grand Auditorium, The Grand Symphony is unique in both sound and shape. Significant changes in its geometry yield a deeper more piano-like bass. A wider lower bout and higher, wider waist return ample volume and low-end sustain in symphony with fuller mids and balanced highs.

Designed to faithfully reproduce your guitar's native tone, the Expression System utilizes patented Dynamic Sensors to capture top and string vibration like never before. Created in partnership with renowned audio pioneer, Rupert Neve, the Taylor ES is seamlessly integrated into the design of the guitar from the ground up. Onboard tone controls provide added flavor, or set flat for an uncolored, exceptionally clean amplified sound.

The finish used to create the Taylor 916ce guitar's lustrous gloss top, back, and sides was developed at Taylor for maximum durability and resistance to cold-checking. This ultraviolet-cured finish is also more environmentally friendly than traditional lacquer finishes.

Sweet Piece

By Denny B.

from Bridgeton, NJ

I'd have to describe myself as a serious hobbyist. I recently purchased the 916ce, not because I can live up to this magnificent instrument, but because I appreciate nice, quality things. The action on the 916 is great and it rings like a bell. Unplugged, it puts out serious volume when you ask it to. I can't imagine how this baby is going to sound after it's played for awhile and it opens up. As for looks, it's a work of art. As you'll commonly hear many say when purchasing an upper end Taylor, it's more than I really wanted to spend but I don't think I'll have any regrets down the road. This is a lifetime guitar.
