Takes my breath away

By basil paul

from Lincoln New Brunswick Canada

Comments about Taylor 814ce Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've owned a few acoustic guitars in my life, just a few to climb the ladder, Norman, art &luthrie, seagull both 6&12 string, ovation, Washburn, Taylor 314 ce, taylor w14 ce, Gibson j 60 custom, taylor ga4, takimine 6&12string, Martin j41 special, martin hd28v, that' s right I am addicted to acoustic guitars. Some of these guitars I've sold but the last three I lost in a house fire. That was a sad day above and beyond all my acoustic babies I lost, I lost my little dog Mika who used to sit beside me while I played and sang songs. She'll be missed dearly. Anyway I went to buy a guitar a few months later and really shopped around, searching the net, reading reviews going to guitar shops trying different ones out. I'm pretty sure I've found my ultimate baby, a taylor 814ce, and wow, I brought it home and played until my finger tips just about started bleeding, you see I had'nt played in about 4 months and my callouses started to disappear. It's a good thing the guitar came equipped with elixer nano web lights and were a little more gentler on my fingers. My dealer only had the guitar for 2 days when I walked in played it for about an hour and decided this is coming home with me. I never looked back. You know whenever I just purchased an acoustic guitar in the past, I was always looking at new guitars which would come into the shop, thinking, hey this sounds better than my guitar, and it would get me thinking did I make the right decision? Well I can honestly say that I have not done this with this guitar, I am truly satisfied and can't wait to get home to play it. It looks beautiful, and at first I wanted to get a little more bottom end and mid range acoustic sound whereas it seemed just a tad trebly so I experimented a bit and found the greatest match for this guitar as far as strings go. The strings I chose and love are martin sp custom lights with the clear tone covering. They're cheaper than elixer and sound great. Some of you are probably wondering why coated strings well I use planet waves humidipaks and always keep my guitar in its case for protection of damage and maintaining a 45 - 50 percent relative humidity level highly recommended by Bob Taylor himself and me, I've experienced the proof it's fantastic. Anyway suppers ready, got to go, I could talk about my baby all night, I've even named my guitar Mika after my deceased dog. Thanks for listening to me ramble on and on, it's great and I love it. See yah.

Comments about Taylor 814ce Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar is a beautifully crafted instrument. The sound is unbelievable - "Taylor" at its' best! The neck is smooth and fast. The maple binding is beautiful. The inlays are beautiful and not over done! This is a definte "must have" guitar! I will treasure this guitar for a long time. It is a guitar that does not need to be upgraded. The 814ce is definitely top shelf!

Spectacular

By John

Comments about Taylor 814ce Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Picked my 814 up 3 weeks ago. Everyday, I love it more and more. Unplugged, the warmth in the lows, chimming bells of the highs, nothing less than spectacular. The action is almost like you are playing a Les Paul. If you plug in, you will need a Pre-Amp to get some Boost. I use a Fishman PRO EQ Platinum, XLR cable from to the PA,using Phantom power to eliminate any buzz. Once you get your tone dialed, nothing better. Craftman's ship of this guitar is beautiful, without being over the top. Inlays, Maple binding, well done. Definitely recommend this guitar. You will not be dissapointed.

Get a 814C

By Paul

from Elmhurst, IL

Comments about Taylor 814ce Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar is great...when played unplugged. In fact, it should be rated 5 instead of a 4, but the ES Taylor uses makes it a 4. The guitar does not sound natural with the magnetic pickup used in the ES system. When plugged in the 814ce sounds like a $150 guitar - awful. I had the under-saddle transducer installed used on the 100/200 taylor series - much better. The ES does not sound acoustic at all. I would buy an 814c and have different electronics installed. The ES should be for electric guitars.

814CE Best of the best !!!!

By J. Franks

from lubbock, TX

Comments about Taylor 814ce Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

WOW The most expensive lady in my harem and well worth it! I have owned Martin 28's, 35's and now have a taylor 814,710, and others. My 814 just blows them away! The action is easy and smooth, even, and true. The tone is superb, even better than I'd imagined. I have played her for two years and her sound has opened up till she sounds like a 25 year old. She is as versatile as she is beautiful from delta blues to contemp. gospel, from small venue to auditorium, w/ excellent electronics and never any problems. I solidly recommend the 814.

Very nice indeed

By Michael Smith

from Raleigh, NC

Comments about Taylor 814ce Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought this model of Taylor back in 2004 and it's my favorite 6 string acoustic guitar. I use Light Elixir strings, keep the neck clean and play my heart out. The initial set up from the factory is quite good, but depending on your style of playing and the gauge of strings you use, you may want an experienced Luthier to a custom set up for you after you have a put a few miles on her. For me, when I played this guitar, it was just perfect. You know when you play a sweet guitar and this is one of those keepers.

The very 'top shelf' of acoustic guitars

By D. Anderson

from San Jose, CA

Comments about Taylor 814ce Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar is the nicest, easiest guitar I have ever played. I put it n a class of its own because it does not compare to my Gibson Songwriter Deluxe, Alvarez, or any other acoustic I have ever owned. From the ease of playability, to the light weight, to the best tones available in active electronics, and the grand auditorium body style, this guitar is hands down the best of the best. Proving once again that you get what you pay for. Spend the extra dollars and do it right the first time!

A gift from God.

By TheGuitarMan

Comments about Taylor 814ce Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

The Taylor 814ce is the best sounding guitar I've ever heard in my life. It sounds and plays so well its like an addiction. For the best sound quality for plugging into a sound system i would suggest the Fishman Loudbox series of acoustic amps. With that there is no better sounding guitar. Buy one... its worth every penny.

Banishes Buyer's Remorse!

By drmrw

from Hollywood Florida

Comments about Taylor 814ce Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Its wierd but its true, when you play it, you just want to play it more! You can't just pick it up for 5 minutes and put it down! I can't stop playing until my hand starts to overheat. The action is fantastic and the tone is really stunning! Everything about this guitar feels "right" It is expensive, but you DO get what you pay for. I played the 914CE as well, and, frankly, to me it just seemed like more glitz but no more performance. It makes you want to be a better guitar player so that you can "catch up" to the guitar!

Crystal Clear!

By Kamuela

from New York

Comments about Taylor 814ce Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

High maintenance but it's definitely worth it and wouldn't you want to prolong the life of a beautiful guitar? The more you play, the sound gets even more crisp. You need to maintain the guitar well. Using a humidifier is a must! Actions can get real low due to heat, especially on the top frets. Therefore, use a humidifier! I can't find any flaws in this guitar. It is pricey so take a good care of it. This guitar wants to be played 24/7. So save up your money and get one.
