grows on ya

By James

from Grass Valley, CA

I picked this up about a year ago, and had a bit of a hard time bonding with it at first, because of the price tag shock and the fact that it's just way too pretty (I feel more at home with my old pawn shop junker with cigarette burns and some character). But it's been growing on me ever since. It's got all the punch of the more expensive sitka tops (814/914), but with half the frill. It's not a fingerpicker like the cedar topped 714ce, but that's not what Taylor's good at anyway. For the same price you get more punch and a touch of style, making it my personal favorite Taylor. Taylor stuff not specific to the 714ce-SD: Built like a tank, heavy, very consistent high quality across the line (less variation than you might find between two identical Martins), cosmetically immaculate, and the Expression pickup system is flawless!

Awesome guitar

By Barry Paul

from Newport, OR

Well I went into Guitar Center looking for a Martin HD-28 and or a Gibson Hummingbird and left with this guitar. Dont get me wrong they all sound great, but The Taylor was better accoustically and when pluged in. Better all around to me. The action is great the feel and the tone is warm and bright and jumps right out without distorting. I am a pro musician and love this guitar. I use a pick and stum pretty hard and no distortion. Clear, clean and warm for the money you get what you pay for. When pluged in I cant beleave how loud you can play with no feedback the Expression system is amazing. If you dont want it on just switch it off in the sound hole its that easy. I think you can go wronge with the beauty. Cheers
