Overview

The Taylor 716ce Grand Symphony is a cutaway acoustic-electric guitar that combines the time-honored tone of Indian rosewood and western red cedar. This pairing is the mainstay of nearly every high-end guitar builder. Taylor sources the finest quality of each wood to deliver all the clarity, sustain, and bass response you would expect from this classic combination. Equipped with the Taylor Expression System and cutaway, the 716ce guitar has the tools to shine in any music venue.

Though you might see similarities to a Grand Auditorium, the Grand Symphony guitar is unique in both sound and shape. Significant changes in its geometry yield a deeper more piano-like bass. A wider lower bout and higher, wider waist return ample volume and low-end sustain in symphony with fuller mids and balanced highs.

Designed to faithfully reproduce your guitar's native tone, the Expression System utilizes patented Dynamic Sensors to capture top and string vibration like never before. Created in partnership with renowned audio pioneer, Rupert Neve, the Taylor ES is seamlessly integrated into the design of the guitar from the ground up. Onboard tone controls provide added flavor, or set flat for an uncolored, exceptionally clean amplified sound.

The finish used to create the Taylor 716ce guitar's lustrous gloss top, back, and sides was developed at Taylor for maximum durability and resistance to cold-checking. This ultraviolet-cured finish is also more environmentally friendly than traditional lacquer finishes.

Simply Outstanding Guitar

By Mike

from Anacortes, WA

Comments about Taylor 700 Series 716ce Grand Symphony Cutaway Acoustic Electric Guitar (2011 Model):

Taylors had always seemed a little too bright tone-wise for me. Then one day I played this guitar in a music store and I was instantly hooked. The best way I would describe the tone is "balanced." You don't lose that brightness of tone, but the cedar top really adds just enough warmth to give it a full sound. The GS body style adds more volume than a GA, and yet it's not a boomy guitar. It responds well to a lighter touch (better projection when fingerpicking and light strumming). I've never been a very aggressive strummer, so if you're one who rakes on the strings with hard picks, you should probably go with a spruce top instead. As part of my job working for a church full-time, I play this guitar on a weekly basis as a worship leader, and I find that the tone is superb on stage using the built in expression system. I also am a hobbyist songwriter and I do some recording, and I find this to be a fantastic recording guitar for someone looking to find great all around tone. I used to have to do a lot of EQ work to get a good tone from my old guitar when recording. This one sounds awesome right out of the mike. I had to special-order this guitar from Guitar Center, and they had to have one sent from the Taylor factory, so it was brand new. It's been a year and a half, and the tones have really started to settle in and get sweeter. Every time I play this guitar I fall in love with it all the more. I've never been this satisfied with an instrument. If you're interested in a Taylor, you should check out the 2011 buyer's guide of their "Wood and Steel" publication. It will go a long way in matching you as a player with the kind of guitar you need.

Taylor 714 CE

By Jim Ward

from Warsaw, VA

Comments about Taylor 700 Series 716ce Grand Symphony Cutaway Acoustic Electric Guitar (2011 Model):

I purchased the Taylor 714 CE from Guitar Center and I am completely satisfied. The 714 with cedar top and Indian Rosewood back and sides produces a beautifully warm tone without being muffled or bassy. I like the simple design including the dots on the fretboard instead of intricate inlays. Thanks Bob Taylor--oh, and Guitar Center too!

Incredible Guitar

By Sweet Tunes

from Los Angeles, CA

Comments about Taylor 700 Series 716ce Grand Symphony Cutaway Acoustic Electric Guitar (2011 Model):

This guitar is simply impressive. High quality rosewood sides and back not just a laminate, coupled with super warm cedar top make this guitar superior. My spanish guitar has the same combination and you can't beat it. Check out the rosewood binding also, instead of the white or black plastic. The nuances of tone are completely balanced even when amplified. My only suggestion to Taylor is that for this price they should have provided fretboard inlays not just the dots! This guitar is not boomy like a jumbo or dreadnought. It's more intimate but sonically perfect.
