With the Taylor 614-CE Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar the bold sounds of big leaf maple and Sitka spruce are enhanced by the Grand Auditorium body design. Together the woods create a bright, crystalline timbre with outstanding projection and warm overtones.
The bright tone of this Taylor guitar is further enhanced by the Grand Auditorium body style with its Venetian cutaway. Its sleek design yields a strong treble zing across the tonal spectrum and sharpens the definition of individual notes. The 614-CE Grand Auditorium is a strong fingerpicking guitar that also adapts well to medium strumming.
Appointments include an ebony headstock overlay, a beautiful abalone rosette, white binding, and artful abalone fretboard inlays.
Designed to faithfully reproduce your guitar's native tone, the Taylor Expression System utilizes patented Dynamic Sensors to capture top and string vibration like never before. Created in partnership with renowned audio pioneer, Mr. Rupert Neve, the Taylor ES is seamlessly integrated into the design of the guitar from the ground up. Onboard tone controls provide added flavor or set flat for an uncolored, exceptionally clean amplified sound.
The finish used to create this guitar's lustrous gloss top, back, and sides was developed at Taylor for maximum durability and resistance to cold-checking. This ultraviolet-cured finish is also more environmentally friendly than traditional lacquer finishes.

My wife brought mine to me right before I walked out on stage. While I wouldn't recommend going on stage with an instrument that hasn't been a lil field tested this thing was amazing. Sound cuts right through the mix of the house band great. Couldn't believe how amazing it sounds plugged in. Mine has the fishman pickup not the new expression systems I compared the new systems and didn't love the tone that came from the new system as much as the former fishman setup. I am sure taylor will work out the kinks as they continue! No matter what if you can get your hands on one of these don't pass it up!!!!
I have been playing the guitar for 35 years and have owned many. In 1997, I saw this beautiful guitar and I bought a 614ce with a 3 piece back. It is built beautiful and the sound is just....awesome! I played it for a few years in Nashville and I work 4 nights a week playing the same guitar. If you are planning on buying a guitar, save the money and get the 614ce. You won't be sorry, and the older it gets, the better it sounds. It will become your best friend like mine is to me.
She's beautiful-the way she looks, plays and the tone of her voice. This guitar is bright, and the neck is the best of any acoustic I've played. She's great for finger picking and flat picking. But she's almost too good for strumming. I got her about 4 years ago, and every acoustic I have played leaves me wanting to play her more. The finish is exceptional. 4 yrs later and she looks new. The spruce top is starting to show its patina. Great case, too. I've flown with her allover the world with out a scratch. Fanastic guitar. I'd like to get a less expensive dreadnought for playing outside, or by a campfire cause I couldn't bare to ruin anything about this beauty.
Been playing guitar for over 34 years. Finally made the leap 4 years ago and bought this guitar. Every time I pick it up, it feels like the first time. Crisp, clean tone, the highest highs and thundering lows. This guitar was made just for me. I play all sorts of genres of music - use it for teaching, recording, jamming. I cannot put it down. Did I mention that I love this guitar?
This is absolutely my favorite go to guitar. I use it for all perfromances! Construction is flawless! Tone is crystal clear! This guitar is excellent for recording and live performances! I love this guitar - there is no need for any other! You will see!
This is my absolute favorite guitar to date. The sound is unbelievable and it plays even better! I use it primarily for recording - every engineer has been totally impressed with the sound! I have tried and tried but it is impossible to find any flaws - the craftmanship is impeccable! It is a beautiful work of art - I love it!
We have a 3 year relationship. This guitar will become a part of you. She still looks and plays brand new, but I never play outside, I keep her in a case with humidifier, and regularly change the strings. The main issue is that if anything happened to her, I'd be a broken man. She sounds beautiful no matter what. You can put your fingers anywhere on this guitar and she sounds awesome. I am now seeking a 'campfire' guitar, but compared to the 614ce, all other guitars are toys that establish no connection with me. She has ruined me! BTW Taylor guitars are outstanding, up and down the line. But this one is special. Her name is Meredith.
Funny thing. Every time I consider a new guitar purchase, my first thought is to buy a Martin. And I always seem to walk out with something else. Nothing different on my most recent shopping expedition. The Taylor acoustic-electric GA's all are gorgeous instruments with great tone and terrific playability, but for me the 614CE had the perfect combination of tone, physical beauty and ease of play. I'm a folk-rock strummer/plectrum picker from way back who has recently taken classical guitar lessons to improve my finger-picking chops, and I found the 614CE to be a fabulous fingerstyle instrument, with little effort required to create crisp, clean notes.
I bought this guitar 4 years ago, and since then I've been in many guitar shops and played a variety of other guitars, and this one still has the "warmest" and most breath-taking sound in the room. Well worth the money.
I play in church (Contemporary Christian), and this is simply a fantastic instrument for leading others in worship. Whether live or in the studio, it just "rings" with wonderful, bright, cheery overtones that just carve out a great piece of real estate in the mix. I used to look at other acoustics, wish I had this or that, and those days are over. Spend the money on it, it's better than 3 cheaper guitars. I have about 8, and it the only thing I play now. Save yourself from buying the first seven....
