Overview

The all-solid Taylor experience continues with the updated 300 Series 310ce Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar. Crisp, black binding flanks the satin-finish sapele back and sides and glossy Sitka spruce top, and then continues up the fretboard. The 300 Series is truly the performer's workhorse, combining technology and craftsmanship with understated style. A Venetian cutaway adds dimension to classic Dreadnought styling, while the tone of Sapele is faithfully amplified via the Taylor Expression System 2.

Sapele/Sitka
The warm tone and open midrange of sapele balances the bright and snappy characteristics of a Sitka spruce top. The resulting combination provides the perfect guitar for strong, rhythmic playing styles.

Dreadnought
A traditional shape refined, we combine classic dreadnought volume and bass response with the definitive Taylor sound: clear trebles and an open, airy midrange that Bob Taylor's signature design accentuates. Dreadnoughts respond especially well to flatpicking or light-to-heavy strumming.

Expression System 2
The Taylor Expression System 2 (ES2) is a revolutionary pickup design that delivers the latest in Taylor's ongoing innovation in acoustic guitar amplification. The heart of the Expression System 2 is Taylor's proprietary behind-the-saddle pickup (patent pending), which features three uniquely positioned and individually calibrated pickup sensors. The location of the sensors enables a more dynamic range of acoustic sound to be captured than ever before. Together with Taylor's custom-designed "professional audio"-grade preamp, this system produces exceptional amplified tone and responsiveness. On stage through a PA, plugged into your favorite acoustic amplifier, or direct into recording software, the Expression System 2 faithfully conveys the voice of your Taylor guitar.

Features
  • Taylor's 300 Series has introduced countless players to the pleasures of the all-solid-wood acoustic experience; it's the entry point to Taylor's USA-made instrument line. Players who step up to a 300 Series instrument will be rewarded with a guitar-for-a-lifetime that will only sound better with age. It doesn't take but a few strums to learn how the mix of tone woods, construction and appointments combine to make Taylor's famous playability, intonation and tone. The 300 Series has everything you need and nothing you don't need in a fantastic sounding and playing instrument. All 300 Series instruments ship in a deluxe hard shell case made by Taylor for optimal fit and protection.
Body Shape
  • The Dreadnought is one of the most traditional acoustic guitar shapes. Taylor's version has been refined to blend its trademark robust low-end tone with a snappy midrange and brilliant treble notes, producing a pleasing balance of power and articulation. If you're a flatpicker or strummer who likes to dig in on lead or rhythm, the Dreadnought should serve you well.
  • Tone Wood Pairing
  • A guitar's top is the primary filter and distributor of vibrating string energy through the guitar, which means it has a huge impact on its sound. Sitka Spruce is the most prevalent guitar top wood of the modern era. It blends stiffness and elasticity in just the right proportions which translates into broad dynamic range with crisp articulation. Solid Sapele back and sides complement the top with a sound that's comparable to mahogany but with a slightly brighter sound featuring top-end shimmer, and balance across the tonal spectrum. Sapele responds well to a variety of playing styles and fits nicely into an instrument mix.

Comments about Taylor 300 Series 310ce Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This 310ce stays in tune because of the precise gearing. Full rich sound with Elixir strings from Musician Friend. Easy to replace 9V battery. Thin finish allows more true sound from solid sapele body. Adjustable truss rod neck is a nice feature. Case is bullet proof and has soft padded interior. Bass and treble and volume knubs are easy to use. Even has fused electronics in case the Muddy electrician overloads the circuits.

I have an older model, but I love it

Comments about Taylor 300 Series 310ce Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

A few months back I bought a used 2007 version of this guitar from Guitar Center. At first I didn't like it...it has a wider neck than the hybrid acoustic/electric that I play all the time. But after getting used to it, finding the right strings, and having the neck adjusted at the local GC store, I like it. Sounds great and holds a tune well. Doesn't have a lot of fancy inlays, etc. if you're into that sort of thing, but it sounds great and I feel worth the money. If anything, I think it could use more treble through the pickup.
