Overview

Taylor's 200 Deluxe Series delivers all the essentials of a great guitar - exquisite playability, a full and articulate voice, impeccable intonation up the neck, and Taylor's top-of-the-line, professional-grade pickup - at a price that's within reach of many.

This collection strikes a sweet balance between tasteful design constraint and aesthetic variety, bringing Taylor's signature tonal clarity and playability into a stage-worthy mix of guitar options. The Deluxe moniker refers to the addition of a fully-glossed body as opposed to a glossy top with satin back and sides. In addition, all 200 Deluxe Series guitars ship in a hardshell case made by Taylor for optimal fit and protection.

Body Shape
A Taylor original, the Grand Auditorium helped establish the Taylor acoustic sound. The popular body style makes for a versatile guitar that yields ample volume in response to light fingerpicking, and reacts to medium strumming and flatpicking with a clear, balanced sound across the tonal spectrum. If you want a great all-purpose guitar, the GA is an excellent choice.

Tone Woods
A guitar's top is the primary filter and distributor of vibrating string energy through the guitar, which means it has a huge impact on its sound. Sitka Spruce is the most prevalent guitar top wood of the modern era. It blends stiffness and elasticity in just the right proportions which translates into broad dynamic range with crisp articulation.

Layered Rosewood back and sides create a sturdy and complementary platform for the vibrating string energy sent by the guitar's top. Layered wood is less susceptible to changes in temperature and humidity, making it an excellent choice for players who travel with their instruments or simply require more durability.

What sets Taylor Guitars apart? Unmatched build quality, the most stable and playable necks, a vast array of tonal options, eco-conscious and ethically-sourced raw materials, and a lifetime of service and support.

Comments about Taylor 214 Deluxe Grand Auditorium Acoustic Guitar:

I have been playing guitar for a few years, so I was looking for an upgrade to my original acoustic. I love the sound and feel of Taylor and Martin guitars, but this Taylor was hands down the best value at the $1000 price point. I was able to play a similar Taylor with a cutout and electronic pickups (214ce-DLX) at my local GC, but I only play at home or with friends, so the extra $300 was not worth it for features I won't use. I had to order this guitar because GC doesn't stock it as a regular item. Luckily it plays as well as I had hoped for. The neck has a smooth satin finish which makes it easy to play, it stays in tune magnificently, and has full rich tones. It also is a beautiful guitar with a full gloss finish on the top, back and sides. I think this is a wonderful guitar to play, practice and write songs on. The custom fitting hard case was a bonus.

    Service and delivery comments:

My Taylor 214-DLX was delivered on time and in perfect condition. Factory set up was great right out of the box.

Comments about Taylor 214 Deluxe Grand Auditorium Acoustic Guitar:

This is my first Taylor and my first "auditorium" guitar. I own many guitars and some costing four times as much as this guitar but, in this price range, I have yet to find a guitar that exceeds the general workmanship, materials and playability of this guitar. I would describe the auditorium body and tone as a "jumbo lite". I don't find this body much more comfortable than say a dreadnaught...but the upper bought is smaller so it is easier to lean in to. I wasn't aware that Taylor was making guitars in Mexico and I have to say, this is the finest off the shelf Mexican made acoustic I have ever seen. You won't be able to tell the difference between this and a USA guitar (at least mine is that way anyway). The new "DLX" is way nicer than the old standard 214 with gloss finish throughout, Ebony board and saddle, and a nice simple mother-of-pearl rosette. Comes with a hard tolex case as well! I think if I had to do it over I would have gotten the 210 DLX instead, I don't find the auditorium that much more "comfortable" to play and it would have been nice to have that Dreadnaught low-end bass. I shopped and shopped around for a useable and well made general purpose guitar in this price range and this is the best I have found (I did get mine at a discount though). I am super happy with this guitar...well done Taylor.
