The Taylor 2012 DN6 Maple/Spruce Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar is an update on the most traditional of all acoustics. Taylor' DN Series pay tribute to that legacy ” while also refining the dreadnought' potent sound, robust bass and articulate mids blend power and balance. The DN6 showcases maple' bright, focused tone, allowing you to drive the guitar with a strong rhythmic attack.
Taylor evolved the DN6 in a way that honors the dreadnought' enduring sonic heritage yet also refines the look and sound into a more modern package. The Taylor Dreadnought still boasts that powerful dreadnought tone that old school pickers expect, with deep lows and crisp highs, but with a voice that is more evenly balanced across the entire tonal spectrum. Pickers and strummers with an aggressive attack will love the blend of power and articulation of the DN6, which allows for clear lead lines and crisp, driving rhythms.
Big Leaf Maple
A dense hardwood, maple's tone is like a laser beam, focused and dominant on the fundamental. Often described as having a "bright" sound, maple has fewer overtones than other medium-density woods, resulting in quicker note decay. This makes it a preferred guitar wood for live performance settings with a band because it cuts through a mix well, allows the acoustic sound to be heard, and is less prone to feedback issues. Also great for lead players who like clean articulation and note definition. It has some midrange, and a lot more treble sparkle than rosewood.
