Overview

Taylor's 100 Series makes a great guitar-playing experience accessible to everyone with these real wood instruments. For people taking the first or next step in their musical journey, these instruments promise to accelerate players' growth and enhance their enjoyment. Taylor's famous neck profile, combined with a 1-11/16-in. nut width, make it easy for developing players to form barre chords. All 100 Series models include a durable, 600-denier nylon gig bag with double-stitched seams and reinforced stress points, built by Taylor for an optimal fit.

Body Shape
A Taylor original, the Grand Auditorium helped establish the Taylor acoustic sound. The popular body style makes for a versatile guitar that yields ample volume in response to light fingerpicking, and reacts to medium strumming and flatpicking with a clear, balanced sound across the tonal spectrum. If you want a great all-purpose guitar, the GA is an excellent choice.

Tonewoods
A guitar's top is the primary filter and distributor of vibrating string energy through the guitar, which means it has a huge impact on its sound. Sitka Spruce is the most prevalent guitar top wood of the modern era. It blends stiffness and elasticity in just the right proportions which translates into broad dynamic range with crisp articulation. Layered Sapele back and sides create a sturdy yet receptive platform for the vibrating string energy sent by the guitar's top. Layered wood is less succeptible to changes in temperature and humidity, making it an excellent choice for players who travel with their instruments or simply require more durability.

ES2 Electronics
Taylor's ES2 is a revolutionary pickup design that delivers the latest in Taylor’s ongoing innovation in acoustic guitar amplification. The heart of the Expression System 2 is Taylor’s patented behind-the-saddle pickup, which features three uniquely positioned and individually calibrated pickup sensors. The location of the sensors enables a more dynamic range of acoustic sound to be captured than ever before. Together with Taylor’s custom-designed “professional audio”-grade preamp, this system produces exceptional amplified tone and responsiveness. On stage through a PA, plugged into your favorite acoustic amplifier, or direct into recording software, the Expression System 2 faithfully conveys the voice of your Taylor guitar. The Taylor Expression System 2 operates through a proprietary 9-volt battery compartment and easy-to-use volume, bass and treble controls.

What sets Taylor Guitars apart? Unmatched build quality, the most stable and playable necks, a vast array of tonal options, eco-conscious and ethically-sourced raw materials, and a lifetime of service and support.

Comments about Taylor 100 Series 2016 114ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar Regular:

All I can say to describe this instrument is WOW!!!!!!!! I've owned numerous guitars over the years from Martins to Gibsons and everything in between, but nothing compared to the sound and feel that this guitar has. Amazingly easy to bar chord. I was able to play a 5 hour jam with this and my fingers didn't feel like they were going to burn into flames. VERY happy and impressed! I played the more expensive Taylor models in the store and found that the differences were minimal.

Comments about Taylor 100 Series 2016 114ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar Regular:

I finally traded in a Martin DCPA5K, which I'd tried for months to love, but could not get there with that guitar. The problem was a neck that was thicker than I was comfortable playing. Took the Martin into GC and traded for the Taylor, which I'd been eying for a minute. I had a high opinion of it from numerous visits to GC, so I took a chance and ate the loss on the Martin. Once home, it was LOVE at first touch and first note. This Taylor feels so natural, perfect for my hands. The sound is divine!! It sounds a little lighter or airier than my Blue Ridge dreadnaught, which makes it a perfect compliment to my collection. This Taylor is as easy and natural to play as breathing. I haven't touched my other guitars for a week. I don't see the honeymoon with this guitar ending anytime soon. Highly recommended.

Comments about Taylor 100 Series 2016 114ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar Regular:

I finally traded in a Martin DCPA5K, which I had tried for months to fall in love with, but just couldn't get there with. The Martin and I finally agreed our differences were irreconcilable. Her problem for me was the neck to thick to ever get comfortable with. So, with not a trace of remorse, I traded her in towards this Taylor. I liked the way the Taylor felt and sounded on my many visits to see her at GC; but could never really get a true feel with others milling about, drums being pounded, and all the other shards of sound flooding the store. I took a chance, and once home found I had not only been rewarded, but am now hopelessly in love with this guitar. For me the feel is as natural as breathing, and the sound is gorgeous. The overall sound is a little lighter or airier than my Blue Ridge dreadnaught, which makes it a perfect compliment and match to my modest guitar collection. Got it on three days ago and have spent every available minute on this guitar. My wife thinks I am having an affair. She's right!

I recommend the 214 deluxe, then add Fishman or L. R. Baggs.

Comments about Taylor 100 Series 2016 114ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar Regular:

I use mine for playing at open mics & nursing homes. Great all around guitar, but sound leans a little more towards the treble side. I had experience with the 114ce with the EST electronics and it was fine. With the ES2 system I experienced a lot of feedback and hum issues. After 3 months of use the ES2 broke and I had to return the guitar to the factory for repair. I asked them to install the EST system and they agreed to do that for me. They tech at Taylor told me they were working to fix the feedback and hum issues on the ES2. On my guitar, what broke was the plastic housing that holds the pickup adjusting screws. Possibly Taylor may consider redesigning the plastic housing as well? I think Taylor should just use Fishman or L.R. Baggs electronics in their guitars.

Comments about Taylor 100 Series 2016 114ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar Regular:

Have had this guitar in my hands for a week, and man, it's a beauty. Has a very low action on the fretboard, the sound is incredibly crisp and clear, and even sounds great plugged in. Beautiful guitar, would totally recommend it for anyone looking for a relatively cheap Taylor, as it plays just as well as the more expensive models.
