The Taylor 100 Series 2015 114e Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar is a grand auditorium-sized acoustic-electric guitar that will change your expectations about what a serious entry-level guitar can be. The 114e has a solid Sitka spruce top with sapele laminate back and sides. Other features include the Taylor ES-T undersaddle transducer pickup that lets your 114ce guitar be heard in any venue, tusq nut and saddle, plastic soundhole rosette, .

Sitka spruce
As a guitar soundboard, or top, Sitka spruce is the tonewood standard of the modern era. It's used on 85-90 percent of the guitars that Taylor makes. Its combination of strength and elasticity translates into a broad dynamic range, yielding crisp articulation and allowing for everything from aggressive strumming and flatpicking to fingerpicking. Sitka spruce is Bob Taylor's personal favorite for an all-around great guitar.

Grand Auditorium (GA)
The GA is Taylor's most versatile and popular shape, excelling at light-touch fingerstyle to full-blown strumming. Great for mic'ing and recording, the GA's balanced mid-range and bright tone exemplify the Taylor voice.

ES-T Under-Saddle Transducer
The ES-T is a single-source, under-saddle transducer with individual elements for each string. It features an onboard preamp and the same active controls found on the full ES. Featuring a custom-voiced EQ and dynamic response, the system is powered by a 9-volt battery, with a battery life LED power indicator (which is lit when the battery is being used). The pickup also has a Phase switch for feedback control, which is located on the preamp board inside the soundhole.

Taylor wins!

By James Warren

Comments about Taylor 100 Series 2015 114e Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This is my first Taylor and my first purchase from - but I doubt it will be my last of either! The guitars action was perfect, and the sound is very bright and clear. I have a hard time putting it down. GC had it here very quickly in good packing, with a gig bag. I have no complaints at all with the guitar, or with Guitar Center's service during the sale.

Obvious choice if you value sound, build, playability

By Jon

from Guilford CT

Comments about Taylor 100 Series 2015 114e Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I wasn't looking for this guitar. I had my eye on an Epi Masterbilt; something with a bit more going on aesthetically. I tried the Epi and numerous other acoustics and eventually decided between two - the Martin X series and the Taylor 100 series. They both had noticeably better sound, tone and play-ability than all that I tried in the $500-$600 range (including Yamaha, Fender, Epi, Takamine etc). In the end I liked the marginally different sound of the Taylor Grand Auditorium 114e. Having always had dreadnought guitars, the different shape is a nice aesthetic change, and I like the snappier sound for strumming/rhythm guitar. The tonal range and resonance is exceptional; it's a really versatile guitar. The build quality is impressive and I rather like the original blond spots/streaks in the ebony (something Bob Taylor has said we'll all have to get used to for the sake of better sustainable harvesting practices - I couldn't agree more, plus I like the unique grain marks. It's my guitar!) The 114e is just great to play. It arrived from GC in perfect shape and almost in tune: I was playing the guitar in about 20 seconds with no additional set up needed. I'm delighted with this guitar, and my experience at the East London CT Guitar Center.

Incredible purchase

from Gainesville, Fl

Comments about Taylor 100 Series 2015 114e Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Bought this guitar a month ago and I could not have made a better purchase for the money. The Grand Auditorium size makes it much more comfortable to play and no other guitar in the price range comes close to this Taylor when it comes to sound. The action is very crisp and clear and loud if you want it to be. The laminate sapele back and sides look beautiful and the sitka spruce top gives it a great tone. Even though this is a low end Taylor, they do not skimp on the craftsman ship of this 114e. It comes with he ES-T pick up not the higher end ES pick up system but i assure you that it sounds great on an amp. The pick up was one of my concerns so I am telling you the truth. It is a very solid guitar and i am sure it will be very durable through the years. I highly recommend getting this guitar if your looking in this general price range. Even if you are looking for an expensive guitar you should pick this gem up and play a little bit. I am sure you will say it sounds better than the $3,000 martin sitting right next to it. I probably wont buy anything other than Taylor for now on. This guitar is great and Guitar Center was great to work with.

The Sweetness Of A Taylor At A Bargain Price

Comments about Taylor 100 Series 2015 114e Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This Model 114E is the equal of even Taylor's more expensive models in playability; it will eat a Martin for breakfast ! I've played Fenders, Martins, Epiphones, Breedloves, and a Seagull, and have yet to see an equal to this Taylor in any other major make. I had previously set my heart on the Mahogany model 324, but have since decided that this 114E will fit the bill wonderfully.

About Me Experienced

Comments about Taylor 100 Series 2015 114e Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I was looking for a pro-level acoustic guitar at an affordable price point, the Taylor 1xx series was my answer. I was nervous about spening this much money when my typical acoustic guitars cost less than $300. It could not be more worth it.

The tone, and craftsmanship, is off the charts compared to budget instruments. Every fine detail is perfectly fabricated. The tone rings out loud and clear, a very big sound for an instrument of this size, with plenty of bass and a smooth articulated treble.

I have found my special guitar, until I can afford that HD-28. Hats off to Taylor and Guitar Center for a really profound instrument.

I did add a Baggs M-1 soundhole pickup, I did not enjoy the stock ES-2 sound signature.

About Me Professional Musician

Comments about Taylor 100 Series 2015 114e Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I wandered into the music store to look and gape at the beautiful new and vintage guitars. I picked up the Taylor 114e thinking it was one of the high-end Taylor guitars and started to play. I was amazed at the bright balanced sound and the ease of playability. Then I checked the price and was very surprised it was so inexpensive. I plugged the instrument into an acoustic guitar amp to test the pickup system and was very pleased at the true reproduction of the acoustic sound. Now, I'm generally a Martin guitar guy (I own three), but this Taylor blew me away. I will be playing it on the gig The Taylor's excellent built-in preamp system reduces my rig by one cable and one external preamp.

    Best Uses

Comments about Taylor 100 Series 2015 114e Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I purchased a cheap guitar to see if my daughter (and I) wanted to learn. It was a $100 guitar and was very difficult to play, even after having Guitar center set it up. After two months of trying to play on the chap guitar, I decided I would break down and pay for a nicer guitar. We were drawn to a sale on a Martin 000 X series, black HPT. We both loved the look of and durability of the Martin but the Martin action was really high and no more playable than the cheap guitar. Guitar center adjusted the Martin and it was better, but while we were waiting for the adjustment to be made, a customer came in and traded in their Taylor 114e for an upgraded Taylor.

I handed my daughter the 114e and she played the G the best she ever played it on the first try. We purchased the used 114e in a matter of minutes after trying it.

Learning on this Taylor has been so much better since we are actually seeing results.

The sound is bright and very nice. The Martin sound in general tended to appeal to us but the playability on this Taylor makes it so much more enjoyable.
