A versatile axe topped with luxurious figured koa.

The Taylor T5 Custom Guitar with Koa Top is the T5 with a stunning figured top, intricate abalone fretboard inlays, and gold hardware.

A resonant, fully hollow thinline body is the backbone of the T5. Its comfort and playability is unquestionable, with the performance freedom of a solidbody and the feel and sound of a beloved Taylor acoustic. Whether played through an electric or acoustic amp, it delivers a fantastic range of pure tones from smooth, strumming acoustic to crunchy electric chords.

Electronics include a unique 5-way pickup system composed of a magnetic acoustic humbucker, magnetic electric humbucker, and a single Dynamic Body Sensor soundboard pickup, as well as a preamp system for mixing up the exact tone you need. Full binding, bone nut and saddle, stylized f-holes, a mahogany neck, sapele body, and an ebony fretboard and headstock overlay are standard.

LIKE NO OTHER

I'm selling my Martin and Les Paul. I no longer have any use for them. Nice job Taylor. You've created the ultimate hybrid!

Great guitar, high price

I?ve had the good fortune to play several of the Taylor T5 models. A friend of mine bought this one, and the Custom model with the Koa is the one I?ve used the most as a result. The guitar is a dream. It?s thin and anything but the standard dreadnought or grand auditorium body. But it is a hollow-body acoustic first and foremost, and it has a great sound. On the electric side, Taylor pulled their usual approach and basically customized everything. It?s their own pick-up, and the hardware isn?t where you?d expect it to be. Still, it?s comfortable to use and you get used to things quickly. We?ve tried it with five or six different amps and always manage to get tremendous clarity and depth of sound. VERY easy to tune and care for. It comes with a custom case. As a package, it is worth the price? but it is an investment. It?s one of the more expensive guitars in the Taylor line, and all I can say about that is so far you get what you pay for. If you have the means, it is that good.

no question one of the best ever!!!

The t5 is beyond compare. Me and my freinds played this guitar at guitar center. The acustic sound is magnificent it was simply amazing! The more amazing part is when you plug it in to an amp it sounds exactly like an eletric guitar. This is the best hybrid i have ever seen in my entire life. The price is my only problem. Other than that one of the best guitars i have ever seen.

It's a Taylor

If I had to sum it up in one word, it would be "Wow!" I've been looking for an acoustic/electric for the past few months and came across this guitar on the Taylor site. After playing everything else under the sun, I finally made the trip to GC to play the T5. The Spruce model has a much brighter acoustic tone, while the Maple and Koa models are warmer. I wasn't able to discern much of a difference between the Koa and Maple, but prefer the looks of the Custom Koa. This guitar sounds absolutely phenomenal on either an acoustic or electric amp, although I do have a little hum on positions 3 and 5 on both amps with good quality Monster or Mogami cables. It will not replace my PRS CE24, Santana or ESP PC-1V, but will become another tool in my box. If you can only afford one decent guitar, this is the one I recommend.

Stunning...

I don't know where to begin with this guitar. I bought her for an acoustic/electric, but now I use her with my Marshall stack even more than i use it as an acoustic. The tone (both plugged and unplugged) is amazing, and the action is perfect, I love this guitar far more than my Les Paul.
