A musically inspiring guitar that truly feels alive!

The Taylor solid body is a completely original electric guitar design. It reflects the same spirit of innovation and pure love for guitar building that has propelled Bob Taylor since his humble beginnings as a luthier in 1974.

The Taylor Standard Electric Guitar is constructed with a sapele back, flame maple inset top and a contoured single Florentine cutaway body design. The proprietary Taylor Style II open-coil humbucker pickups are designed to deliver the sweet tones of a low-output vintage pickup, but with enough power to fully drive any amp.

Other exclusive touches include the Taylor profiled 24-7/8" short scale neck with 22 frets and the ultra-stable, single-bolt T-Lock neck-to-body construction; a sleekly sculpted, "invisible" adjustable all-aluminum bridge; volume and tone knobs that are specially contoured for maximum control with unique 5-way switching capabilities.

Five pickup settings with carefully chosen voicings give you a great range of tones:
1) Neck pickup
2) "Skinny neck tone"-two inside coils from both pickups wired in parallel
3) "In-between rock tone"-both coils of neck pickup combined with the inside coil of bridge pickup for classic bright single-coil tone with the added fullness of neck tone. Great for semi-distorted amp setting.
4) Fat single-coil-two inside coils from both pickups in series (north from neck and south from bridge) creating, in effect, a 4" humbucker.
5) Bridge pickup

This beauty has a sound and feel that is unique, and yet quintessentially Taylor.

Highly Impressed

I've been playing guitar 20+ years. Played in night clubs for 10 years back in mid 80's to mid 90's. I own six guitars and 2 basses. I am a fan of Taylor acoustics and last year I picked up a Taylor T5 hollow body. The T5 is a nice guitar, but has it's limitations. My main electric guitar has been a Jackson SL1 Soloist, which is an amazingly versatile guitar. If you think it's just for shredding, you haven't really checked one out. However, upon learning about Taylor's venture into the solid body market and how they approached constructing this guitar, I was intrigued and very interested in playing one. I had a chance to play a Classic and a Standard prior to the release sale date of these guitars. I knew quickly that I had to own one and so I bought a Standard on 11/23. Today I had my first chance to play it with my band. I am in love. This guitar has amazing tone, plays like butter and is very versatile with the sounds you can get out of it. Cleans sound great and vary greatly depending on pickup selection and tone knob setting and the bridge pickup through an overdriven tube amp sounds amazing. I am a tone fanatic and this guitar produced amazing tone with very little adjusting of current amp and pedal settings. Now I wonder if any of my other guitars will get any play time. I love this guitar that much. In addition, the fit and finish is superb. I looked over the entire guitar at every angle and in minute detail and can't believe that I can't find even one tiny imperfection. VERY impressive!
