Warmth, clarity, and personality.

A solid Western red cedar top on the Taylor GS5 Grand Symphony acoustic guitar produces a uniquely warm and complete tone that's perfect for fingerstyle and vocal accompaniment. The tropical American mahogany back and sides add projection without brittleness while ivoroid body and fretboard binding provide visual pizzazz. Abalone on the rosette and fretboard microdots is truly sublime. Ebony bridge and rosewood headcap.

Bob Taylor personally designed the Grand Symphony guitar body style for a unique sound. A higher, wider waist and a rounder lower bout result in distinctive tone with deep piano-like bass, rich mids, and clear, balanced highs—all with plenty of volume.

GS5 TAYLOR

I owned a low end takamine, and I was going to go get me a new and exspensive acoustic... I first bought a 000c-rgte martin and It played great, but I soon realized that the sound that I heard while playing didn't make more than like 4 foot away because It had no projection.. I took it back and I played the GS5 taylor and it would knock you back a few feet with it's projection.. The action was fairly high but i adjusted the bridge and got it about right.. I think that if you are a hard strummer then you will be more happy with the gs8 (rosewood).. the mahagony gets a little thin when really beating on it.. but when you want some sweet finger picking or light detail strumming and picking then the Gs5 is perfect for that.. at least for me.
