These bridge pins are great. To be honest though, they're not THAT much different from others except that they are made by Taylor. The abalone ones though, while much more expensive, look amazing - especially if you have inlays on your fretboard to match them. Great buy.
I recently installed these in my 2006 110E after i finally lost one of the original plastic bridge pins. not only did these fit my 110 (the product description says 300 and up), but the tone was greatly improved. i wish i had thought about changing my bridge pins out five years ago!
The Taylor bridge pins I received were of a quality I've come to expect expect from this maker; uniform, nicely turned and attractive on my guitar. My problems arose when I ordered these pins for a Larrivee guitar, reasoning that since B Taylor started out with Larrivee, the required dimensions should be similar. I've had a problem with the plastic pins supplied on my model L03 slipping when re-stringing and was hoping the ebony Taylor pins would fit tighter and, most importantly, sound much better, being the same material as the L03 bridge. Unfortunately, the Taylor pins were so loose that they were actually harder to get seated than the cheap plastic ones. These pins were also significantly shorter than the pins supplied on my guitar, possibly due to the brittleness of ebony if turned too thin. While I can't really fault the pins for the failure I experienced, I would suggest that it might be better to make pins a bit on the thick side since they can always be sanded down a bit. I would still recommend a bridge pin upgrade to anyone who buys a nice acoustic guitar that is supplied with cheap plastic pins. I'm disappointed with my purchase, and doubly so since they looked so nice on my axe, but this is through no fault of the product. It illustrates the axiom 'let the buyer beware', or at least be sure that the pins you order actually will fit on the guitar.
