The dark, warm tone of a solid mahogany top on a 3/4-scale travel/children's guitar.

The Baby Taylor Mahogany Acoustic Guitar is great for young beginners, great for traveling, and it sounds so sweet. The X-braced mahogany top adds midrange punch and a slight bluesy edge. Genuine ebony fretboard and bridge gives it a more luxurious visual vibe. Includes gig bag.

  • It looks small but sounds big

As reviewed by Mia Flores on 12/13/2012

The Taylor Baby may be small but it's packed with a ton of sound! Like a lot of Taylor's, it has a more bright sound but the bass is great as well. I recommend this for any beginning guitar player and the narrow neck makes it easy for people with small hands (like myself) to form chords. The neck is fairly straight and it being a 3/4 guitar makes it great for travel. I take it everywhere with me since lugging around a full sized guitar is much more work and the baby can hold its own against full sized guitars, so no worries there. Also, when changing the strings I recommend Elixir light strings so you can get that bright sound it's made for. This is the cheapest of Taylor models but is still made with care so when looking for a small guitar, pay attention to quality, not just price.

  • Baby, I love you

As reviewed by Walt on 5/30/2014

OKAY! brought home a new Baby (Taylor) today. My first impression on my BT2 (mahogany sound board, not spruce): I will be very happy with it as a travel guitar. I A/B'd it with the Martin LX, the LX sounded boxy, honky midrange next to the BT2. The BT2 was a lot smoother, had wider range. GC didn't have the spruce BT1 for comparison, but memory tells me it was too 'Taylor'y: bright, precise: without a full bass response for balance, the spruce sound was a little too trebly. Meanwhile, my 'hog' guitar was a little mellower, deeper (some called it 'dark'). The laminate back was slightly curved, like an ovation, which helped with the projection. (In fact the guitar sounded fuller when some one else played it in front of me.) The 22.75" scale frets were a little tight on the fingers up high. Setup seemed fine out of the box. 33.3" long, 12" wide, its very portable. But size aside, it is eminently playable and good sounding as a solo instrument accompaniment. Finger picking sounded wonderfully warm but articulate, and finger strumming gave a nice full sound. With a pick, individual notes rang out, including the low strings (!). Pick strumming sounded a little noisy and confused, more so the louder you played. BUT REMEMBERING WHY I bought it- strictly as a carry-along guitar- it will never replace a full body instrument in clarity and fullness of tone. But like many other owners had remarked, IT IS FUN to play. (whatever that means!)

  • Baby Taylor great for travel

As reviewed by BRYAN on 1/18/2015

I moved, needed to replace my travel beater that I sold before I moved. A buddy of mine had one of these and he loved it, I've always liked Taylors, and for a little more than buying a used beater on Craigslist, I got this, brand new, with a high quality gig bag, shipped to my doorstep. This guitar has a great tone, needed no setup, and the first comment from someone I showed it to was a compliment on its mahogany finish...
